Ballen Studios, the global content company founded by renowned internet storyteller John "MrBallen" Allen and CEO Nick Witters, announced today Zak Levitt as Head of Production. Levitt, who has long established himself in the entertainment industry as a distinguished and award-winning storyteller, has been at the helm of some of the most popular and acclaimed documentaries and series.

Exclusive: Ballen Studios, founded by former Navy Seal turned breakout podcaster MrBallen, is staffing up.
The company, which was launched last year by MrBallen, otherwise known as John Allen and Nick Witters, who previously worked at WME, has hired Zak Levitt as its new Head of Production.
Levitt joins from podcast company Cadence13, where he was EVP, Production. He started the company’s original production studio C13 Originals and produced series such as The Set and The Sunshine Place, which came from Robert Downey Jr. He also worked on series such as Gangster Capitalism and Root of Evil: The True Story of the Hodel Family and the Black Dahlia.
Before joining Cadence13, Levitt was a filmmaker and made films for ESPN’s 30 for 30 including Bad Boys and The Doctor.
In his new role, he will now oversee all of Ballen Studios’ existing slate of audio programming across various stages of production and development.

Some may recall that when Frank Brittain's The Set was released in Australia in the seventies, it outraged many with its uncompromising look at teenage sexuality and identity at a time when homosexuality was not only taboo, but also illegal. While the film went on to become a cult classic, the book, upon which the film was based, remained unpublished. That is, until now. The Set's author, Roger Ward, decided it was time to finally publish the novel. An established actor, particularly of the "Ozploitation" genre, Ward has enjoyed roles in a slew of legendary Australian films including Mad Max, Turkey Shoot, The Man from Hong Kong and Young Einstein, and a clutch of television series such as Division 4, Matlock Police and Homicide.

George Clooney has reportedly been offered the lead role in a remake of the film which inspired Brokeback Mountain. The Set was released in Australia back in 1970, and caused a great deal of controversy due to its depiction of homosexuality, still illegal in the country at the time. The film's writer and star Roger Ward is helming a $$50 million remake of the original, and claimed that he has offered Syriana star Clooney the lead role.
