With 2018 fast approaching, HBO released a new "coming soon" video that includes brief footage of numerous projects, including the new Fahrenheit 451 film and the next season of Westworld.
Watch the new video below to get a glimpse of what's to come on Westworld Season 2 and the Fahrenheit 451 film.
Directed by Ramin Bahrani (99 Homes) and based on the seminal Ray Bradbury book of the same name, Fahrenheit 451 stars Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Chronicle), Sofia Boutella (2017's The Mummy), and Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals, Bug). In addition to starring in the movie, Jordan is also one of the executive producers on the film.

Ray Bradbury adapted to the screen is always something to check out; this Jack Smight- directed trio of stories bound together by a mystery man wearing the graffiti of the title at least works up a little ethereal-cereal excitement. Husband and wife Rod Steiger and Claire Bloom spout ominous dialogue as they face various futuristic threats.

So this is exciting! I'm a huge fan of Ray Bradbury's seminal dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451, and have been looking forward to a decent movie adaptation for a while now. François Truffaut tried his hand at it once in 1966, but while it was an admirable attempt with some striking images, it didn't really do the novel justice. I mean, there wasn't even a robot firedog! Now it seems Michael B. Jordan and Michael... Read More...

It was just a few months ago it was announced that Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon would be teaming in an HBO adaptation of Fahrenheit 451. Directed by Ramin Bahrani, who previously helmed Shannon in the underseen 99 Homes, the the first image has now arrived as filming gets underway.
Adapted from the 1953 Ray Bradbury novel, Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian saga about “firemen” who don’t put out fires, but rather start them by burning books, which are outlawed in the bleak but probably now not-too-distant version of America the characters inhabit. Jordan will play Guy Montag, a fireman who comes to lose faith in his profession once his eyes are opened to the outlawed printed word. Shannon is Captain Beatty, Montag’s mentor.
Bradbury’s novel was previously adapted as a 1966 film directed by François Truffaut, and served as the inspiration for countless other dystopian sci-fi titles, including the gun-fu extravaganza Equilibrium.

Burning books is rarely good, and it’s usually one of the go-to indications—both in fiction and in real life—that a society has lost its way. That being said, the people burning books aren’t usually Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon, both of whom are awesome and will soon be starring HBO Films’ adaptation of Fahrenheit 451. HBO has released a preview image of Shannon looking on as Jordan aims a flamethrower at something (probably books), and while anyone with a passing familiarity with Ray Bradbury’s original book can tell you that what they’re doing is abhorrent, Jordan and Shannon do make it look pretty cool.

HBO Films has released the first photo from their upcoming adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s classic dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451. It gives us our first look at Michael B. Jordan (Creed) and Michael Shannon (Man of Steel) as Montag and Beatty.
The story depicts a future where media is an opiate, history is outlawed and “firemen” burn books. It follows Montag (Jordan), a young fireman who forsakes his world, as he battles his mentor Beatty (Shannon) and struggles to regain his humanity.
The actors look great in their roles and with HBO producing the movie, it's safe to say we're going to get a great film adaptation. The movie also stars Laura Harrier (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Sophia Boutella (The Mummy) and Lilly Singh (Bad Moms).

It's not always easy being geeky. The celebrated genre writer Ray Bradbury knew this all too well; as a kid growing up in the 1920s and 30s, he was intoxicated by all things otherworldly and imaginative: classic horror movies, pulp sci-fi stories about Mars, comic strips detailing the exploits of Buck Rogers. Eventually, Bradbury's peers teased him mercilessly, until, in a bid to fit in, he ripped his Buck Rogers comics to shreds. But far from helping the young Bradbury draw a line under his obsessions, the destruction of his beloved comics left him feeling unhappy and soulless.

It’s time to get familiar with the stars of Spider-Man: Homecoming, because it looks like they’re going to be popping up in a lot of intriguing projects. Case in point: Deadline reports that Laura Harrier—who plays Liz Allan, the object of Spidey’s affection in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie— has joined the cast of HBO Films’ Fahrenheit 451. Harrier will be taking on the role of pill and TV-addicted Millie, the wife of “fireman” Guy Montag (Michael B. Jordan). The cast for the project, which is set to be directed by 99 Homes’ Ramin Bahrani, also includes Michael Shannon and The Mummy’s Sofia Boutella. It’s unclear when the Ray Bradbury adaptation will hit screens, but reviving classic dystopias does seem to be all the rage these days.

The film, which is being produced by HBO, will retell Bradbury’s tale of a dystopian world in which book burning and censorship have become commonplace. BBC Radio 4 will scratch your sci-fi itch with a whole season of programming including Ray Bradbury, Kafka, and original comedy and drama…
Escape the rapidly unfurling dystopia outside by tuning into a season of sci-fi on BBC Radio 4. Dangerous Visions, the BBC’s yearly dose of classic and original sci-fi radio programming, returns this week… with a difference. The nation being sorely in need of a laugh, Dangerous Visions 2017 has made the decision to include some comedy alongside the existential nightmares.

First up on the comic side of things is a version of Kafka’s absurd satire The Metamorphosis starring Tim Key, Tom Basden and Felicity Montagu. Alongside that is original dystopian comedy Perimeter, a tale of two siblings living in a city divided by an enormous electric fence, written by and starring Liam Williams and Josie Long.
A new reading of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 is joined by two original dystopian dramas, Siege and Culture. The former is a three-part thriller telling the story of the Far Right coming to power in 2020 France, while the latter is a vision of the world in which antibiotics have stopped working and the lives of those without medical insurance are decided by the shadowy ‘Quartermaster’. Finally, there’s an adaptation of Arthur Koestler’s 1940 totalitarian nightmare Darkness At Noon.
The season kicks off on Saturday the 24th of June with Kafka’s Metamorphosis at 2.30pm. Here's a short clip to whet your appetite.
All episodes will be available to listen to on BBC iPlayer for a period after transmission and the full listings can be found here.

The Mummy star Sofia Boutella continues to take on highly flammable (or possibly inflammable) roles, with Variety reporting that the actress is in talks to co-star in HBO’s upcoming adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. Boutella joins a cast that includes Michael B. Jordan as slowly awakening “fireman” Guy Montag, and Michael Shannon as his sinister mentor. (A.k.a., “The Michael Shannon part.”)
Boutella would play Clarisse, the young woman who initially spurs Montag to rebellion. The character was a teenager in Bradbury’s original novel, but most adaptations—including François Truffaut’s 1966 film, which cast Julie Christie in the part—age her up and expand her role. Boutella first caught widespread attention with her turn as knife-footed henchwoman Gazelle in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman, and stars as the titular villain in Universal’s upcoming creature feature, which opens this weekend.

Stay in the loop on industry and casting news with our write-up on who’s been slated for recent film and television roles! “Fahrenheit 451”“Fahrenheit 451” is about to hit HBO. The iconic Ray Bradbury novel about dystopian control and McCarthy-era censorship has long been held as one of Bradbury’s best works, with the awards to prove it, and HBO is taking it to the small screen with a made-for-tv movie. The book’s title explains one of the story’s main themes, with 451 degrees Fahrenheit being the temperature at which books will burn. The story centers on a firefighter whose job is to start fires instead of extinguishing them by burning the possessions of those found to have books. When he overhears his freethinking teenage neighbor, he begins to consider what his job is costing humanity. Suicide, robot dogs, and emotionless humans all plague the rooted-in-real-life science fiction novel.

With Actors, Directors, Actresses and Screenwriters under our collective belt and Cinematographers still to come, we presently turn our eye towards Composers, whose music lends so much to the films they work on.
As with the other lists, credit is given for not merely one or two sterling scores, but rather a consistently excellent body of work with specific stand-out films. To be blunt, this is a trickier prospect than it at first appears. Just because a film is terrific or well-loved doesn’t necessarily mean that the score is itself a standout. We begin with perhaps the most obvious and celebrated film composer of them all…..

Half a century ago we were all going to be living in mile-high skyscrapers with floating cars for transport. As the new millennium came closer, you had more chance of meeting an alien who declared, “Nanu, nanu, shazbot” as a greeting. The major inventions of science fiction have yet to happen. Warp drive, teleporting, hover cars; they all remain the prerogative of fertile minds. Or do they?
Despite what we may think, much more of science fiction’s wizardry has come true than we credit. In-ear headphones were predicted by Ray Bradbury in his seminal novel, Fahrenheit 451. Apple, for one, are finding this to be a tidy revenue stream.

Relax, it’s for an adaptation of ‘Fahrenheit 451’
Seems like every day 2017 looks a little more like a dystopic novel: civil disorder, totalitarian rulers, an increase in military spending at the expense of social and cultural programs, Teen Wolf got cancelled; bottom line, it’s pretty dour out there.
Unless you’re the author of one of these dystopic novels, like Brave New World, 1984, or The Handmaid’s Tale, then you’re having the best sales of your career thanks to the teeming masses trying to adjust to the New World Order.
HBO’s looking to capitalize on this unrest by adapting the other really famous dystopic novel — Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, about a future where books are outlawed — into a movie, and now they’ve got their stars. Oscar-nominee and general badass Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals) will be playing Beatty, chief of the firemen who burn books, and...

In 1966, French director François Truffaut made his English-language debut with “Fahrenheit 451,” a dystopian thriller based on Ray Bradbury‘s novel about a man tasked with destroying literature. While the film was received only moderately well by audiences at the time — the New York Times referred to Truffaut’s film as both “dully fashioned and dully played” — its status has been elevated as the novel itself has entered the science-fiction canon.

HBO is moving forward with their adaptation of Ray Bradbury's iconic sci-fi novel Fahrenheit 451 and they cast Michael B. Jordan (Creed) and Michael Shannon (Man of Steel) to star in the film. It will be directed by Ramin Bahrani, who previously worked with Shannon on the film 99 Homes.

Michael Shannon and Michael B Jordan will star in HBO's adaptation of Ray Bradbury's sci-fi cautionary tale, Fahrenheit 451.
HBO heard that you like dystopias, so they're going back in the vaults to bring you one of the seminal dystopian works in all of fiction. HBO is developing a Fahrenheit 451 movie, based on Ray Bradbury's classic work of disturbing and increasingly prescient sci-fi. In the 1953 novel, released during the peak of the McCarthy era panic, books are outlawed and 'firemen' go around to make sure that they go up in smoke, lest any unapproved ideas make their way out into the world.
In the unlikely event that the words HBO and Fahrenheit 451 in close proximity to each other aren't enough to get you excited, perhaps the cast will.
