Average Paella Western shot in Spain with little action and starred by a ¨B¨ American idol
ma-cortes15 May 2006
The film concerns about Ray O'Brian (George Montgomery) , an outlaw from Texas accused of killing his wife . He is an underling of Camargo (Jose Nieto), a known bandit become Mexican General. Besides , there appears Riaño (Jesus Tordesillas), an emperor Maximiliano's supporter, and his two nephews named Francisca Riaño (Elisa Montes ) and Alfredo (Ricardo Valle) . Camargo is profoundly enemy of Espada who hurts to O'Brian, Camargo then revenges and executes a raid on the Espada's village , killing even a kid . Camargo wants to marry Francisca .But suddenly Alfredo Riaño appears dead by a shot . Who is the killer? . O'Brian must find the real culprit amidst various suspects. Can he find the guilty?.

This Chorizo Western contains an intrigue in which the starring is the detective to investigate who is the murderer. It's one of the numerous European Westerns anterior to ¨boom¨ Sergio Leone films and follows the USA Western models . It isn't an usual Spaghetti Western ,this one is a cheap Western shot in Almeria (Spain) where during the 60s were filmed several Spanish-Italian Western or in co-production with US. There are action and shootouts but no too much but the little action sequences are effective as the raid on the small town. The protagonist is a famous actor who starred B series called George Montgomery . He was born to Ukranian immigrants and was a heavyweight boxer previously becoming an actor . Besides was a magnificent craftsman and built and designed houses, plus a self-taught artist, creating bronze busts for famed actors . He starred movies around the world and diverse genres : adventures (Watusi,Steel claw) , Warlike (Battle of Bulge, Hell of Borneo) and specially Western (Seminola uprising, Fort Ti, Last of badmen, Great duel in Durango ). The motion picture is regularly directed by Maury Dexter. Rating : Average. This Western could have been a lot worse but that's no reason to watch it.

Spanish western that's devoid of interest
Leofwine_draca9 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
DJANGO THE CONDEMNED is a dull little Spanish western that has nothing to do with the Django film series. It came out before the original DJANGO and was simply re-titled later. The original title is OUTLAW OF RED RIVER. The film itself sees George Montgomery as a small-time bandit who is also the movie's hero. You see, he's surrounded by even worse characters who think nothing of committing murder and when a prominent opponent is shot dead, Montgomery must turn detective to find the man involved.

It's a sluggish plot and one which seems to deliberately test the viewer's patience throughout. There are a few action scenes but they're directed in such a typical way that the viewer can't help but to become bored during them. The characters are more caricatures and the dialogue in the English version appears written to order with no colour or insight. Regular western actor Frank Brana appears in the small role of a bandit.

The Outlaw of Red River
Uriah4321 July 2021
This film essentially begins with an outlaw by the name of "Pat O'Brien" (George Montgomery) having fled across the Red River to Mexico for the murder of his wife. At least, that is what is rumored. To that effect, his status as an outlaw compels a bandit named "Miguel Camargo" (Jose Nieto) to befriend him and when Miguel accepts a high-ranking position within the Mexican army, he chooses Pat to look after his ranch while he is away commanding his informal cavalry. Not too far away from General Camargo's ranch is an impressive hacienda owned by a man named "Don Cristobal Riano" (Jesus Tordesillas) who has seen his wealth and influence disappear because of his support for Maximillian. He does, however, have a beautiful niece living with him by the name of "Francisca Riano" (Elisa Montes) and in order to cement closer ties with General Camargo has promised her hand in marriage to him. Unfortunately, his nephew "Alfredo Riano" (Ricardo Valle) has a deep hatred for both Pat O'Brien and General Camargo and when he turns up dead the two of them are immediately suspected-and this creates problems for all concerned. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that I honestly didn't expect much from this film due in large part to the rather low rating on IMDb. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the somewhat intricate plot and the solid acting of both George Montgomery and Jose Nieto. Likewise, having an attractive actress like Elisa Montes certainly didn't hurt either. In any case, although my opinion may be in the minority, I liked this particular film and I have rated it accordingly.
