Sex & Nudity

  • There is a rape scene (offscreen), which is observed by two of the main characters, who appear indifferent to it.
  • Some flirting between characters, including a woman telling a man that all men should be more like werewolves.
  • The film's intro credits song has a line which says the phrase "cannibal orgy" (note: there are no "orgies" in the film itself, although there is an implication of a woman having sex with deformed people in a root cellar).
  • A supporting character dresses in skimpy lingerie and a black lace nightgown. At one point she prances around outside in the forest wearing it.
  • A mentally disabled man develops an attraction for his aunt. Likewise, his sister frequently makes passes at her uncle and at one point ties him up while she flirts with him. Nothing explicitly sexual happens between the characters, although there is an implied offscreen rape.
  • Multiple references to incest and inbreeding are made; "inbreeding" is verbally said aloud at least once.

Violence & Gore

  • A man's ear is cut off as he is stabbed to death.
  • A cat is killed (offscreen) and later fed to people under the guise of it being rabbit meat. A variety of bugs, mostly spiders, are eaten onscreen, although they appear to be fake props.
  • A major supporting character is murdered and his body is seen later on being lifted away in a dumbwaiter, which frightens another character, causing her to scream.
  • A skeleton wearing striped pyjamas is seen onscreen, referred to as "daddy" by one of the characters.
  • A man tries to grab a woman while making a bizarre noise at her. She refers to him as a "baboon" and locks herself in a car.
  • A girl describes a spider "draining vital juices from a bug's body".
  • There are few violent scenes where people are killed by a (or two) young girl, it's brief and offscreen. There is no blood in the movie, but there are themes of killing. The end is intense.

Profanity

  • Multiple uses of "retarded", 1 usage of "baboon", multiple uses of "god/oh my god".
  • No profanities in the movie.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A tobacco pipe is seen sitting on a table.
  • A man smoke a cigar.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The characters of Virginia and Ralph have bizarre mannerisms. Ralph in particular leers at women, hides in a dumbwaiter, is implied to have sexually assaulted his aunt, and eats a housecat which he killed. Virginia carries knives, eats bugs, collects tarantulas and plays a made-up game called "spider" where she pretends to be a spider and murders unsuspecting people. This may bother some viewers, although it is intended to be dark comedy.
  • It's a horror-comedy, but the atmosphere is weird and creepy. The final, when the sisters want to kill the others is intense. The dark humor lighting all.
