Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Edwin is told by his mother that "Baby Jane" as a young adult was found sleeping around with some guy, drunk, after the accident which paralyzed her sister. "In bed" is the phrase used so it isn't particularly explicit.

Violence & Gore

  • Blanche is seen starved and dying on the beach. Her lips are parched from the sun; Jane appears to be concerned but pretends that the two of them are little girls playing at the seaside. Upon returning from a walk to buy Blanche an ice cream, Blanche is shown laying motionless, with her fate left unknown.
  • An opening scene shows Jane intentionally hitting Blanche with her car, paralyzing her. No faces shown. No blood or bodies.
  • Jane gradually goes insane as the film progresses. In one scene, Jane kicks Blanche repeatedly.
  • In a further attempt to prevent Blanche from getting the word out, Jane ties her to the bed and tapes her mouth.
  • Jane kills a woman by striking her in the neck with a hammer. But nothing is shown. You see Jane picking up the tool but not the actual impact.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Jane drinks heavily throughout the movie.
  • Edwin Flagg is an alcoholic and drinks vast amounts of liquor at once. References to being drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Janes appearance can be unsettling as she wears a lot of make up. Making her appear ghost like.
  • The film's ending is very bleak and unsettling. Blanche dies of severe neglect and Jane loses her mind completely. The additional reveal that Blanche was responsible for her own disability, and had allowed Jane to suffer the guilt of their accident after attempting to murder her with the car, adds another disturbing layer.
  • Blanche is served a dead budgie for lunch by Jane. She is also served a rat later on in the film, although the impact of this is lessened after seeing the first incident, and right before this second incident Jane says 'by the way, we have rats in the cellar'
