Rocío (Rocio Dúrcal) and her four brothers (Pedro Mari Sánchez , among others) live in a village de La Mancha. Unemployed, they glean a few coins from tourists that stop by to see the sightseeing , showing them an old windmill and convincing them that it was the same location that Don Quixote had fought in the old days. By chance, Rocio meets a woman (Helga Line) after a car crash , the lady is in difficulties and wounded , as she refuses to accept that her daughter died recently . In an attempt to get the wife interested in life again, a orchestra conductor (Carlos Estrada) asks Rocio to pose as the missing daughter . Telling lies was her job, so Rocío accepts helped by the servant (Roberto Camardiel), and knowing a luxury life in Paris , but then one problem compounds with another, one lie leads to another, and the young woman doesn't know how to sort things out . Along the way , she has a hansome suitor , a young trucker called Fernando (Simon Andreu) .

Rocío Dúrcal's amusing sentimental comedy with mirth , fun , loving conflicts and family problems . It deals with a young girl , Rocio Dúrcal, who cares her four orphaned brothers and she works as a tourist guide in La Mancha . This is an entertaining and funny dramedy proceeded in great simplicity and delicacy with plenty of vitality , humor and vivid imagination. A charming story stars the always sympathetic Rocio Durcal whose life changes whe a car accident takes place while she has to care for some children. Very freely based on Cinderella tale , while another Rocío Durcal movie : "Tengo 17 Años" was based on Snow White and seven Dwarfs . A coming-of-age story in which Rocio Dúrcal seeks for love , and becomes involved into a mess with her parents who left her long time ago .Well starred by Rocio Dúrcal, the famous successful young girl of the sixties, discovered by producer Luis Sanz when participated at a TV singer contest called Primer Aplauso . His films debut were 1962 Cancion de Juventud, and Rocio de la Mancha by Luis Lucia, following Deanna Durbin 40' Hollywood films style. After that, she played 1965 Mas bonita que ninguna , Acompañame, Buenos dias condesita , La Chica del trebol, and Cristina Guzman, most of them directed by Argentinean Luis Cesar Amadori . Subsequently, she performed musicals as "Las Leandras" 1969 and "La novicia rebelde" by Luis Lucia, a peculiar version de La hermana de San Sulpicio .Then, she attempted to change her traditional style with "Marianela" 1972 by Angelino Fons, "Diselo con flores" 1974 and an erotic film with Barbara Rey titled "Me siento extraña" . These movies failed and were a real flop, then she became a notorious singer of popular Mexican songs and Rancheras, getting hits all around the world. This is an amusing and funny comedy with musical numbers by the teen idol Rocio Durcal playing as a dreamy 17-year-old girl who discovers another way of loving, enjoying and living , containing hilarious moments here and there . She is well accompanied by a fine plethora of secondaries as Carlos Estrada, Helga Liné , Roberto Camardiel , Simón Andreu, José María Caffarel , Jesús Puente, Muñoz Sampedro , José Sepúlveda , Alberto Fernández , Rafael Hernández and the child prodigy Pedro Mari Sánchez .

This is a nice Spanish production being professionally directed by Luis Lucia . The motion picture was financed by two Production Companies : Época Films S. A. and Procusa . Although Luis Lucia used to work for Compañía Industrial Film Español S. A. (CIFESA) , one of the most powerful producers of the Francoist period , while Luis Lucia provides his craftness and slickness to the direction. Luis was an advocate at law for company CIFESA that produced super-productions and often financed these false but breathtaking historical spectacles . His film debut was ¨13-13¨ and subsequently ¨Hombre De Negocios¨, two average ¨comedies . Later on , he directed two dated historical dramas : ¨Princesa De Ursinos¨ and ¨Jeromin¨ . And he made various Folkloric films for Juanita Reina : ¨Lóla La Piconera¨ , ¨Gloria Mairena¨ , Carmen Sevilla : ¨Hermana De San Sulpicio¨ , Lola Flores : ¨Morena Clara¨ , Antonio Molina : ¨Esta Voz Es Una Mina¨ , among others . Lucia discovered children prodigy as Marisol , Rocio Durcal , Ana Belén and Jaime Blanch . Rating : 6/10. The flick will appeal to Rocio Durcal fans.

A poor girl lives in La Mancha, Spain. Works as a guide tour to provide for her younger brothers

This is one of Rocio Durcal's movies that I enjoyed when I was 14 years old. I loved the songs and the story is cute. She lives nearby a windmill. To provide for her younger brothers she gets the idea of giving tours of the windmills, stating that these are the ones that Don Quixote fought, along with his sidekick Sancho Panza. She then passes as the daughter of one of the tourists that almost runs her over with his car. The man is trying to help his wife, who has been in shock since the death of their daughter. When he sees how Rocio looks like his own deceased daughter, he decides to try to bring his wife back to reality by having Rocio pass as their own daughter . She gets involved in many adventures as she tries to help this couple, as well as to keep providing for her family. This is a very innocent movie. There are no violence, sex or profanity in it at all. I wonder if her movies are on DVD. I would buy them all!
