When Marty gets up from getting water at the creek, the knees of her trousers are wet; however, they are dry in the next shot as she and Jim walk back to camp.
About 1:16 into the film, when the townspeople are discussing the fate of the boy (rescued from the Comanches), Willis Bouchey, John Qualen and Paul Birch turn and walk out, passing Shirley Jones and those remaining in the room. Qualen and Richard Widmark then have a brief shot at the doorway and Qualen exits. The next shot shows the group, including Qualen, again walking past Jones and the others on their way to the door.
At the Officers' Dance, McCabe gets three glasses of punch for Marty, Elena and himself. On his way back to the ladies, he deliberately trips Lt. Chase, and one of the glasses spills. Marty then goes to dance with Lt. Gary and, in the course of conversation with the officers' wives, Elena leaves in a hurry out onto the veranda, followed by McCabe who is now only holding two glasses, which he tosses over the railings.
Sgt. Posey, Andy Devine, would not have been in the cavalry of the 19th Century. Cavalry soldiers were limited to 150 lbs. for the good of the horses.
In the last two minutes of the film, Elena, inside the stagecoach, opens a suitcase with a mirror in it that shows Guthrie sitting atop of the stagecoach rather than her reflection.
While women did wear pants in this era out of necessity, they did not wear pants anything like those worn by Shirley Jones. Her pants were clearly there to emphasize her ample attributes. Not historically correct. Her pants would not have tailored to be form fitting and probably would have been denim blue or brown.
When the Indian boy is cut loose by the woman who thinks he is her boy, she uses a scissors. Later, a man says she cut him loose with a knife and the boy stabbed her in the heart with it.
The background in the army camp is an obvious painted backdrop.

When Lt Gary (Richard Widmark) visits the Comanche camp, he does not want the chief (Henry Brandon) to know that he is a soldier in the US Army. However, he wears army uniform trousers throughout the visit.
