• Servant : [as she sees a crown over Bahar's head]  Oh! my queen don't you fear that someone would see you in this crown, and that would cause trouble as many girls would die for this.

  Bahar : Those who wear crowns do not fear. If they do, the crown won't last long on their head.

• [Akbar has awarded Sangtaraash for his work - and has ordered him to marry Anarkali] 

  Sangtaraash : [laughing]  There is a short distance between the oppression and justice of kings.

  Bahar : You should be delighted that the king is honouring you with prizes and gifts.

  Sangtaraash : Delighted? Only weak people show happiness. I was making a joke.

  Bahar : So you are not agreed to his views.

  Sangtaraash : [throwing away the king's award]  No, I am not.

  Bahar : Do you know the result?

  [both of them look at the sculptor's unfinished piece of the death sentence] 

  Sangtaraash : Perhaps this sculpture may be completed with my blood!

• [Salim is stroking Anarkali's face with a feather - meanwhile, Bahar is watching them. She accidentally rustles some leaves, startling the couple] 

  Anarkali : Prince! Someone is watching us...

  [she leaves, with a dismayed Salim watching her go] 

  Prince Saleem : Whoever disobedient person dares to come here must be present at the palace.

  [he also leaves. Later, Bahar comes to him in the palace] 

  Bahar : Your slave is here.

  [he grabs a dagger and hurls it at her, but just misses] 

  Bahar : [taking the dagger and handing it to him]  The disobedience of the dagger surprises me. And I lament my wretched life. Give the insolent dagger one more chance of victory - I have enough blood in me.
