Charming and sympathetic black comedy dealing with two unfortunate friends and their distressed and sad adventures
ma-cortes17 January 2018
Attractive and fun retelling based on the Spanish ¨Picaros¨ o ¨rogues¨ , Eudosio and Carlos. The adventures of two derelicts magnificently played by José Isbert and Juanjo Menéndez , two travelling comedians . They are in prison as inmates and subsequently , they succeed to become good friends . They leave the penitentiary and start to drift all around Segovia and Madrid to sell ties . Thus begin the travels of a pair of roguish friends , as they slowly starve together , and learn to live by their wits , and shrewdness . It tells the first person adventures of two derelicts , street urchins who decide to steal to stay alive and it thus ultimately both recount feats and moralizing on those poor people . Cruel necessity causes the canny Eudosio and Carlos to leave and to move on to yet other unscrupulous patrons and more petty crime in the shadow of the always threatening Police . They use their cunning while serving other swindlers as well as several other masters , and also learning to practice all kinds of tricks and traps . They stay at a home which is a whole building in ruins, without any closed window and with the walls that are barely standing . There they meet Esperanza , Julita Martínez, who will attempt to turn that space into a happy home .

This film gives a vivid , al times sad, and jolly description of the world of the pauper and the petty thieves . It describes the adventures of a pair of Picaros , exposing injustices who usually suffer while amusing the viewer . The impoverished threadbare but proud as well as botcher thieves desperately try to appear eligible and arrogant , but whose pretensions are cruelly mocked by other townsfolk . His travails afford opportunities for much biting social and satire sharply observed along the way . Nice film indirectly based on classic novels , as a picaresque novel written by Mateo Alemán and anonymous Lazarillo Tormes ; dealing with fun and funny adventures of two derelicts , it features amusing events , adequate cinematography and good settings . As the tumbledown scenario of the Spanish landscape is established as a fitting background to the events which transpire . Pretty good but free adaptation about two vintage novels that is credited with founding a literary genre , the ¨Picaresque novel¨ , from the Spanish world ¨Picaro¨ , meaning rogue or rascal . Very good acting from José Isbert and Juanjo Menendez as two shrewed thieves accused unjustly, that prevents them from getting a job when they go free and they suffer extreme famine because of the lack of food and design a lot of strategies to get aliments . Both of whom intend to explain that they were locked up for no reason, nobody will listen to them. Along with Julita Martínez as the young Esperanza who tries to help them working at home with enthusiasm. The picture is plenty of notorious Spaniard secondaries as Xan Das Bolas , Emilio Rodríguez , Manuel Arbó Rafael Bardem , Manuel Alexandre , Rufino Inglés , Manuel Requena , Antonio Molina , Aníbal Vela , Angel Alvarez , among others .

This movie displays an appropriate photography by Ricardo Torres and being masterfully shot on atmospheric location in Segovia and Madrid . The motion picture was well directed and in traditional style by Joaquin Luis Romero Marchent (1921-2012) , giving some delightfully realized sequences and being considered a Cult movie and direction assistant results to be Jesús Franco . It was made in 1955 , but premiered in 1958 and being a boxoffice flop . Joaquin's direction is compellingly crafted , here he's more cynical and humorous and less inclined toward violence . Marchent is an expert writer and director of good Western . Marchent films would set a new bold standard for on-screen Almeria Westerns and establish him as one of the most influential Spanish directors of the Paella/Spaghetti sub-genre and quickly became the more prolific filmmakers in the genre . His first film was ¨El Coyote¨ and the sequel titled ¨Revenge of Coyote¨ shot in Mexico . After that , he filmed ¨The shadow of Zorro¨ and ¨Revenge of Zorro¨. He went go directing Western as ¨ Riding to death ¨ , ¨Adventures in the West¨ , ¨Three good men¨, ¨Sabor Venganza ¨ , ¨Fedra West¨ and the most popular and violent ¨Condenados a Vivir¨ . Plus , he wrote for his brother Rafael Romero Marchent the following Westerns : ¨Manos Torpes¨, ¨Ocaso Un Pistolero¨ and ¨Garringo¨ and his greatest hit was "Cut-Throats Nine" or ¨Condenados a Vivir¨ that brought an entirely new level of stylization with the genre , this ultra-violent masterpiece not only signaled a move toward an even grittier and more nihilistic brand of Western . This ¨El Aventurero De Guaynas¨ (1966) or ¨The Adventurer of Iguana" (English title) or "The Tough One" (International title) is a riotous adventure spoof in which there's too much silly action , amusing comedy and enough excitement . Rating : 7 , Good , it has a lot of entertaining moments .
