usual B prostitution movie in Pigalle...
happytrigger-64-3905176 October 2020
... but with something more : very punchy and slang dialogues by the local thugs and prostitutes, sometimes even shocking, especially in the mouth of Annie Girardot who cannot choose her side or the pimp Maurice played by the director Leo Joannon himself. If you forget the stupid ending, you get caught by this revolution against this prostitution market, revolution led by the priest of the Salvation Army (nice Pierre Trabaud). And still great settings of vintage restaurants.

Which way to Heaven?

Warning: Spoilers
Pierre Trabaud had been the good young priest who gave his life to save his old pal Fresnay's soul in the notorious incredible "le Défroqué",another effort by Leo Joannon. In Pigalle ,that notorious place in Paris, there is work to be done: to try to keep the young girls from falling into Satan's trap, that is to say becoming hookers .One of them,Jody (Annie Girardot) falls in love with the holy man, which does not simplify matters. But do not panic,he will turn her away! The ending-like that of "le défroqué" is a monument of kitsch,of Sulpician imagery: just before she dies,Jody sees all the girls in their communion dress and she whispers "this white .... all this white" .Anyone can find back purity and redeem his soul.THE END.
