Quotes
-
Owen Pentecost : Sure, I'm loyal. I've got an undying loyalty to myself and no one else, nothing else.
-
Owen Pentecost : I don't belong to anyone except myself. I'm not joining any parade - yours or theirs. I like walking alone - no ties. Don't ask questions; no one to answer to. Man's gotta be sentimental to fight a war; gotta have a lump in his throat about God and country and home and mother, all the pretty things.
[Takes a drink, and looks at Boston]
Owen Pentecost : No lumps.
-
Boston Grant : Talking about gold really perks you up.
Owen Pentecost : What's wrong with liking gold?
Boston Grant : Especially in the color of a girl's hair?
Owen Pentecost : I don't care about the color of a girl's hair. Long as she has a reasonable amount I don't complain.
-
Boston Grant : Owen, if there's a war, I'm North, a Yankee, you're South. What happens to us?
Owen Pentecost : I shoot you, I guess.
[He smiles]
-
Ann Merry Alaine : I prefer to come down from a pedestal under my own power.
Owen Pentecost : When you do, I'd like to be around.
-
Owen Pentecost : Love is never a word that came easy to me.
-
Zeff Masterson : Where are you from, mister? Georgia? Louisiana?
Owen Pentecost : North Carolina.
Zeff Masterson : Just as bad. I can smell a Southerner a mile off. Smell I don't like. Nor the breed. High and godly, slave-trading, slave-beating rebel secessionists. Not fit to live, none of you. Sorry we saved your worthless hide.
-
Boston Grant : You'll forget me in a week.
Owen Pentecost : I'll remember you as long as I remember anything.
