Funny and amusing film well directed by José Maria Elorrieta , in which Fernando Fernán Gómez stands out as an ingenuous professor
ma-cortes22 August 2018
An Ethic profesor called Claudio Enkel (Fernando Fernan Gomez) is mistaken for a known expert footballer named Alejandro Pavlovsky who was hired by two sport agents (Juan Calvo , Antonio Riquelme) . Upon the arrival at the Madrid airport, the professor at the University of Frankfurt receives a crowded arrival , but the teacher ignores that everything is due to a confusion .To be aware the sport agents (Antonio Riquelme , Juan Calvo) of the actual situation , they convince Claudio to pose as Alejandro to play in ¨Castellana Futbol Club¨ . Meanwhile , he falls in love for the beautiiful Elena Bernal (Maria Piazzai) , a writer who has written a novel titled Amor en Vespa . Along the way Alejandro becomes involved into abundant problems , as a Femme Fatale (Lina Canalejas) hired by the rival team and a pair of communist bombers (Rafael Luis Calvo , Rafael Albaicín) .

This likeable movie relies heavily in identity confusion , mayhem , and even problems arise when, after discovering the error, they force our protagonist to impersonate the player until he appears .Here stands out the enjoyable performance by Fernando Fernán Gomez and Lina Canalejas as the bombshell who seduces him , the spectacular and fun final match at the crowded soccer stadium , as well as some unusual happenings , as there appears some communists throwing bombs during the stiff Francoist dictatorship period . Fernando Fernán Gómez gives a good and sympathetic acting as the naive profesor who is mistaken for a Russian football player and is received as a sport star. Here he provides one of the best interpretations of the 50s . He is well accompanied by an all-support-Spanish-cast , such as : Lina Canalejas , Raúl Cancio , Rafael Luis Calvo, Antonio Riquelme , Antonio Molino Rojo , Juan Calvo , Rafael Albaicín , Alfonso Rojas ,Matilde Muñoz Sampedro ,Xan das Bolas , among others

It packs an atmospheric musical score by Roberto Berki Jr. including Boleros and Cha-cha-cha . Adequate Cinematography by Alfonso Nieva shot in Antiguo Estadio Metropolitano, Madrid, and Römerberg platz, Frankfurt, Germany . The picture was professionally directed by José Maria Elorrieta , a hard-working craftsman who had already filmed other Westerns and adventures . He was a writer and director , especially known for Rosa De Lima (1961), Muchachas En Vacaciones (1958) , and made many other films until his early death at 53 . Spanish writer/filmmaker Jose Maria Elorrieta so consistently mixed the good with the mediocre that it became quite impossible to know what to expect from him next . As Elorrieta had prolific career , working from the 40s to 70s he directed all kind of genres such as Terror : ¨Escalofrío Diabólico¨, ¨La LLamada Del Vampiro¨, ¨El Espectro del Terror¨, ¨Las Amantes Del Diablo¨; Western : ¨Los Siete De Pancho Villa¨, "If You Shoot... You Live!", ¨Hombre De La Diligencia¨ , and adventures as ¨La Muchacha Del Nilo¨, ¨Conquistadores Del Pacifico¨, El Tesoro De Makuba¨, ¨La Esclava Del Paraíso¨ and ¨Hawk of Castile¨. Rating : 6.5/10 , entertaining stuff that provides audience amusement . Enjoyable but ordinary production packs enough fun , funny scenes and exciting situations for a good time . It will appeal to Spanish movies aficionados

Fernan Gomez and "El Pisito"
jagabaldon-115 April 2008
Only a small comment, "El Pisito" is not with Fernando Fernan Gomez is with Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez, another great Spanish actor of comedy. And the director was Marco Ferreri and the writer Rafael Azcona the most important Spanish writer of films. In "El fenómeno" an important scientist is confounded with a popular football player, there is a lot of gags with the scientist trying to play football and people from de rival team trying to avoid play an important game. Finally play and wins and of course catch the girl. In these years the football was very popular in Spain, with the rivalry between real Madrid y Barcelona.

Fernan Gomez was also an important teather artist, like his mother Carola Fernandez, and his father was also a popular artist, but d'nt recognize as son. He was born in Argentina, but early turn to Spain, where began to work in theater during Spanish civil war with only 13 years, but was very popular during 50, mainly in comedies mainly for his aspect, large, red hair, no handsome and a very nice voice.

Funny film
josedobla16 April 2001
Before anything, excuse my english.I saw this film several years ago when i was a teenager and it looks like me very funny. I like very much fernando fernan gomez,a fantastic director, actor and screenwriter, with brilliant films that "Viaje a ninguna parte", "el abuelo", o "el pisito". At the beginning of his career he did a lot of comedies, this film is a spanish typical comedy of the 50´s.If low budget, black and white photography doesn´t matter to you you´ll not disappoint.
