This movie was a follow-up to Rock Around the Clock (1956) and shares many of the same sets and cast.
As with Rock Around the Clock (1956), all songs are performed lip-synched to previously released records. It's worth noting, however, that Bill Haley and the Comets' instrumental "Goofin' Around" seen performed here is a different take than the version the band released on record.
According to an article in the September 16, 1957, issue of "Billboard", producer Sam Katzman intended to follow this film with a third film featuring Bill Haley and Alan Freed, with production intended to begin in 1958. It was ultimately not produced.
While there are two African American acts featured in the film, there are only two other African Americans in the cast, introduced as dance contest winners (who perform to "Tutti Frutti"). Otherwise, all of the kids enjoying the music are Caucasian and they are only shown dancing in pairs to music performed by white acts. When The Treniers and Little Richard perform, the kids stay at their tables or stand in place while swaying and clapping.
