A well executed film that follows the romantic lives of 5 telephone operators. The film is mostly lighter fare, but it does briefly touch on a few deeper subjects, particularly for the time it was made. One of those is the shame and difficulty of single motherhood in Italy at that time. Another is the hardship of having an alcoholic family member. The third is the stress and sadness of suspected infidelity.
Although it touched on those themes, this is a comedy and not a drama. Those themes were touched on very lightly and just enough to give the film a little depth.
Some of the actors were quite forgettable, but some of the others are tremendous and really know how to entertain. There are a few scenes that really had me laughing and cheering.
