While we may have reached the point where the ubiquity of true crime dramas has already spawned satires, they still remain hugely popular. And following the huge success of “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” it looks like everyone is now digging through infamous court cases from the 1990s to dramatize. Up next will be NBC‘s “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.”
Edie Falco leads the show playing the attorney who defends twin brothers Eric and Lyle Menendez (played by Gus Halper and Miles Gaston Villanueva) when they’re charged with the shocking, brutal murders of their parents.

The shocking suicide of disgraced NFL star Aaron Hernandez served as a cold reminder that the 27-year-old convicted murderer once had a promising future.
As a member of the 2008 University of Florida national championship football team, the 19-year-old tight end was playing alongside future NFL players like Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Deonte Thompson and Mike Pouncey.
“Aaron stood out, even among the football players.” says classmate Katie Benson Sears. “You’ve got to understand that the Gator football players were gods here. They weren’t just big men on campus; they were known in the community. If they went to restaurants,...

Hilary Swank will face off with a man accused of Holocaust denial in an adaptation of Deborah Lipstadt's book History On Trial.
Denial dramatises historian Lipstadt and her lawyers' efforts to prove that the events of the Holocaust were real in a legal battle against David Irving.
British author Irving filed suit against Lipstadt for libel after she described some of his work as Holocaust denial.
Denial will be adapted for the big screen by two-time Academy Award-nominated writer David Hare (The Hours and The Reader) and The Bodyguard director Mick Jackson.
Swank is starring in the historical drama opposite Emmy Award winner Tom Wilkinson, according to Deadline.
Prior to returning to the big screen for Denial, Swank will star on television in the family drama The One Percent with Ed Helms and Ed Harris.

When you hear the word “trial” in the same sentence as “Newcastle United” your mind can go one of two places. Either you’re instantly transported back to the plot of the movie Goal! and the image of young Santiago Munez getting dumped on his backside in a muddy and ferocious kick-about at the training ground, or you roll your eyes and wonder what Nile Ranger’s done this time.
Like all clubs though, Newcastle’s recruitment policy isn’t restricted to scouting networks and new managers bringing their mates over with them, there’s (probably) a fairly stringent system in place to allow some wayfaring footballers a chance to show what they can do. Bleep test to see what shape they’re in, a game of spot to see how good they are with the ball, and one of those rugby scrum simulators to see how well they can...

Lauren Tannehill, the hot model wife of Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, left an ‘interesting’ little present behind when she dropped off her rental car on Jan. 4. And by little I really mean huge, since it was an enormous semi-automatic Ar-15 rifle.
Who knows why Lauren and Ryan Tannehill feel the need to own an Ar-15. Maybe they deal with regular threats to their physical safety, or just really enjoy killing Bambi. But no matter what reason they give for owning that ridiculously large gun, one glaringly obvious fact remains — one should not leave deadly weapons lying around in rental cars.
Lauren Tannehill Should Not Have A Gun License
Was Lauren Tannehill aiming to take down a group of violent white supremacists à la Breaking Bad when she put that rifle in her rental car? Gearing up for a zombie apocalypse? Prepping for a deadly secret mission with Rambo? Because if so,...

The Dec. 12 midseason finale of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ was one for the ages.
Seriously, what didn’t happened on the Dec. 12 episode of Grey’s Anatomy? This episode had it all: Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Cristina (Sandra Oh) continued to shoot verbal bullets at each other, Alex (Justin Chambers) and his dad reached closure, and then there was that wedding.
Cristina, Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Shane (Gaius Charles) gave a press conference on the success of Cristina’s conduit trial, where Cristina was visibly nervous — especially when Meredith walked in.
And that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Burn After Burn
While Cristina and Meredith were getting fitted for bridesmaid dresses, gauntlets were thrown. The fact that Cristina was getting credit for her printer and being considered for the Harper Avery award set Meredith off. They both criticized each other for how they live their lives, with Cristina saying...

This took guts. Even though Will and Margot found themselves at the heart of a cheating scandal just weeks ago on Nov. 6, the ‘Focus’ co-stars were out together for one of the movie’s press calls on Nov. 22, looking the rumors dead in the eye.
Focus co-stars Will Smith and Margot Robbie must feel like they have nothing to hide, because on Nov. 23 they posed for pictures together — wrapping their arms around one another — at a press call for the first time since a vicious report claimed that they had been having a home-wrecking affair.

Just when you thought ‘Calzona’ has suffered enough, Sara says more drama is on the way!
The Nov. 14 episode of Grey’s Anatomy was a torturous hour for Callie (Sara Ramirez) — along with her harrowing court trial, we also saw a flashback her and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) dealing with the aftermath of their miscarriage — but sadly, her suffering is far from over.

Jodi stood before the jury on May 21 and cried while giving a passionately pleading for life in prison, instead of the death penalty. Here’s why she says she should live.
Jodi Arias does not want to be sentenced to the death penalty. She stood in front of the jury and tearfully admitted that brutally murdering her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in 2008 was the “worst mistake” of her life. This is far different from her statement on May 8 that she wanted death. During her emotional address, she stated: “I’ll be sorry for the rest of my life” and added that she is “horrified” that she stabbed Travis 27 times, slashed his throat and shot him in the head.
Jodi Arias Begs For Life In Prison Not Death Penalty
Jodi is awaiting her sentencing for being found guilty of murder in the first degree. She admitted to killing her ex-boyfriend in 2008, after first denying having any involvement.

Channel 5 has released details of an Oscar Pistorius documentary that has been timed to coincide with the South African Olympic and Paralympic athlete's upcoming trial.
Blade Runner On Trial: The Evidence will look at the facts in the case of the death of Reeva Steenkamp, who Pistorius is accused of murdering.
The broadcaster will use two experienced South African lawyers to argue the questions that will be at the centre of the trial. The film will also include a purpose-built replica of Pistorius's bedroom and bathroom, where the shooting took place.
Sam Barcroft, from producers Barcroft Productions, said: "Blanket news coverage means everyone now has a view on what happened on the night of Reeva's death - and this special analyses the evidence that will prove crucial during Oscar's trial.
"Using an adventurous and forensic approach, we enable viewers to get to grips with the trial of the century.

Jodi Arias’ First Interview Since Being Found Guilty
Shockingly, Jodi said that receiving the death penalty is exactly what she’s hoping for. ”The worst outcome for me would be natural life,” she told Fox. “I said years ago that I’d rather get death than life, and that still is true today.” Jodi explains her unlikely preference, saying, “I believe death is the ultimate freedom, so I’d rather just have my freedom as soon as I can get it.”

Beckham could be set for a sensational return to the Premier League this season, according to the Daily Mail, but it isn’t what you’re thinking.
No, it isn’t David, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and La Galaxy midfielder, but his son Brooklyn, who has had a trial at the club’s state-of-the-art training ground.
Beckham was pictured with a Chelsea academy player in the snow at Cobham yesterday, sparking speculation that the out-of-contract midfielder could be set for a remarkable move to the Premier League after leaving La Galaxy last year.
But it turns out he was just there to watch his son turn out in a low-key academy game aimed at giving the young Beckham a taste of English football at junior level.
An insider said:

Practically unknown outside his native Italy yet as essential to the grammar of cinema as a Brakhage, Carmelo Bene finally gets his first retrospective in the English-speaking world courtesy of the Anthology Film Archives (after running at the Harvard Film Archive) on the 10th anniversary of his death.
Though chiefly known for his theatrical work, this possessed avant-gardist gate-crashed the 7th Art leaving in his wake a succinct but indelible body of work: a death rattle of anti-cinema. Utterly removed from the abominable provincialism of auteur cinema and its authorial individualism, his films are acts of self-dispute, impudently staging the tragic farce of his inner (artistic) life.
Bene’s films regurgitate the disorder of life and its forms; with a contusive freedom of imagination he desecrates the codes of filmmaking while testing his own capacity to live up to his visions.

It's a lot harder to get excited about Santa when you're a grown-up because when you're a grown-up you're old enough to realize Santa's chimney swooping coincides with the cold, dark, barely bearable winter TV hiatus. Yesterday was the first day of December, and so my heart was like, "Here comes Santa Claus!" but my head was like, "And there goes Leslie Knope." And oh, I resented Santa, you guys. I really did.
Anyway. My roommate has missed the last few weeks of Parks and Rec. She didn't know Ben and Leslie had gotten back together, so when she saw the opening of last night's episode she was like, "Gah! I'm too far behind! I can't watc—" and then she plopped down in her chair and didn't move for the next half hour except for wiping her tears away from the laughing and the crying. Behold the power of Leslie Knope!

The Australian Screen Editors’ (Ase) Guild has announced its nominees for the 2011 Ellie Awards.
Across seven categories, the Ase Guild recognises achievements in editing across feature film, television, documentary, music videos, commercials and short films.
Blame, Mad Bastards, Oranges and Sunshine and Tomorrow When the War Began, are all up for an award. So to is East West 101, Jandamarra’s War, Spirited, short film Something Fishy, Carlton Draught’s Slo Mo ad and Tim and Jean’s music video for Don’t Stop.
The awards are nicknamed the Ellies after the bronzed elephant statues.
Actor Rob Carlton (Underbelly, Paper Giants) is to host the night. Carlton said he feels the pressure to nail the night: “If you’re an actor, hosting the Awards night for the Screen Editors is a high-stakes business. Get it right and I’m assured lots of smouldering close-ups. Get it wrong and all you...

The Good Wife, HBO’s The Pacific, and Justified were among the record 39 recipients of the 70th Annual Peabody Awards, which honor the best in electronic media. “For 70 years the Peabody Award has defined excellence in electronic media,” said Horace Newcomb, director of the Peabody Awards. “This list of Peabody recipients continues the commitment of the University of Georgia and the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, the stewards of the award. With that commitment, we challenge media makers and distributors to reach higher, try harder and be ever mindful of their central role in public life.

The executive producer behind Lifetime's controversial Amanda Knox: Murder On Trial in Italy is defending the project, calling it a nonjudgmental look at the American convicted of killing her roommate in Italy.
"This is a factual drama and we feel we did a very fair and balanced telling of the story, crafting a script from court records and other public documents," executive producer Craig Piligian tells TV Guide Magazine. "At the end of the movie people will be wondering whether she really did or didn't do the things she's accused of," he says...
