This little-known, small-scale intimate drama was made by George Stevens between two of his biggest successes, "A Place In The Sun" and "Shane", both of which are very elaborate, large-scale prestige movies.
Each of the three leads also collaborated with Alfred Hitchcock. Ray Milland starred in Dial M for Murder (1954), Joan Fontaine starred in Rebecca (1940) and Suspicion (1941) and Teresa Wright starred in Shadow of a Doubt (1943).
Screenwriter Dwight Taylor based the character of Jenny on his mother, legendary Broadway actress Laurette Taylor, and her problems with alcohol.
Final film of actresses Judith Allen and Patsy O'Byrne.
Final film of Sally Rawlinson.
