Martin Garrix is definitely a DJ who knows how to ring in the new year with style. We’ve already heard an unreleased song from the Dutch DJ dubbed “Scared To Be Lonely” that was unveiled during his stint at Ava Nye 2016, and now his end of the year mix has hit the internet for our listening pleasure.
Comprised of nineteen tracks and clocking in at an hour long, Garrix’s year end mix is packed to the brim with a number of his top releases from 2016, as well as plenty of other goodies. A number of songs from the producer’s Ade week marathon surface in the tracklist, like “Spotless” with Jay Hardway and “Welcome” with Julian Jordan. Alesso and Axwell Λ Ingrosso pop up as well, before Garrix brings the mix to a fitting close with his Bebe Rexha collaboration “In The Name Of Love.”

Sebastian Ingrosso‘s “Dark River” was fairly ahead of its time when he began playing it out last year, and now that the electronic music world has caught up, he’s decided to put it back on the map. The DJ/producer and former Swedish House Mafia hitmaker has released a lyric video for the track whose surrealism fits its wonky production.
Crudely animated still photos of everything from farm animals to nuclear explosions make for an almost unsettling backdrop to the track’s jaunty bass lines. The vocal and instrumental samples are performed by what appears to be a cubist representation of Ingrosso himself, with the lyrics of the song appearing on the screen in timing.

Former Swedish House Mafioso Sebastian Ingrosso released a new solo track this week titled “Dark River (Festival Version),” reminding us once again why he’s one of the best producers in the game today.
“Dark River” opens with a driving house beat, with steadily building synths and risers leading up to the energetic dance sections. Taking inspiration from future house, Ingrosso delivers hard hitting offbeat bass stabs and relentless percussion that saturate the drops.
The breakdown, meanwhile, features some unexpected acoustic guitar elements and a whistled melody alongside a vocal section, offering plenty of diversity to the song and giving dancers some brief reprieve from the energetic drops.
You can check out the latest from Ingrosso in the player above. Give it a listen and as always, leave a comment below letting us know what you think of it.

Announcement coincides with the unveiling of six films by BFI graduates.
The UK’s Department for Education has announced it will invest $1.4m (£1m) of funding to support the BFI Film Academy in 2016-17.

The move came on the day that 66 young filmmakers from the BFI Film Academy unveiled six short films to British film industry figures including producers Alison Owen (Suffragette, Saving Mr. Banks), Faye Ward (Suffragette, Jane Eyre) and Duncan Kenworthy (The Pass, Love Actually).
The screening and graduation ceremony, held today at BFI Southbank in London, showcased films created as part of the BFI Film Academy course at the National Film and Television School.

Photo by Donnacha Kenny"Congratulations, Tom; you're one of the lucky eight per cent!" —Stir of Echoes (1999)Joliet, Illinois is probably the American city which more people have dreamed more fervently of escaping than any other. But after spending four hours in 'Prison Town'—long synonymous far and wide with incarceration—I was sad to leave; I'll be glad one day to return. Fortunately, such matters are questions of personal choice. Many of the area's residents, including those not serving custodial sentences, have little realistic option but to remain—trapped by personal, social and/or economic circumstances that can feel as confining as any 6-by-8 cell. "Joliet, or "J-Town", is racially diverse and is known as a crime-ridden city, although the area has shown much improvement since the 1990's... The east side is generally known as the ghetto side and the west side is known as middle class, even though...

Warner Bros. is heading into John Twelve Hawks’ “The Fourth Realm”, starting with the first book in the trilogy, “The Traveler”. The film is “set in the near future, and reinterpret history as a battle between the forces of control. There is the Tabula, which manages society through constant observation, and the Travelers, a nearly extinct group of people who can project their spirit into other dimensions.” There are three installments, including the sequels “The Dark River” and “The Golden City”. The trilogy’s author, Hawks, like the protagonists in his novels, is aid to live “off the grid”. No one actually knows his real name or where he lives, which makes the fact that he somehow got his novels published to be quite the feat. Then again, the whole “mysterious author” angle is probably just that — a marketing angle. I could be wrong, of course, and he could be...

Watchmen co-writer Alex Tse has been hired by 20th Century Fox to adapt author John Twelve Hawks' sci-fi series The Fourth Realm Trilogy for the big screen.
According to Heat Vision, the first book, titled The Traveler and published in 2005, "is set in a Us society run by a secret organisation seeking to control the population via constant observation.
"Seeking to rebel against these constraints are an almost-extinct group of people called Travelers, who can project their spirit into other dimensions, and their protectors, called Harlequins.
"The inaugural tome centres on a reluctant Harlequin named Maya, who must protect two naive Traveler brothers."
The second book, The Dark River, came out in 2007 and the third, The Golden City, in September last year.
Reclusive author Hawks, whose real identity isn't known, apparently communicates with his publisher Random House using a voice scrambler and untraceable satellite phone, and uses stand-ins for book signings.
