This is the first of the four Tom and Jerry cartoons in which Tom is one of the King's Guard while Jerry and Nibbles are part of the rival military force, the King's Mousketeers.

Beautiful attention to background detail, especially in the banquet hall scenes and the food depicted. This is a feature of shorts of this era, which were still being shown as part of a cinema feature program.
Disney's "The Mickey Mouse Club" TV series was still three years away from its debut at the time of this short. The show would use the term "Mouseketeer" all through its many incarnations.
