Almost all of the actors were dubbed, including the stars Silvana Mangano (by Lydia Simoneschi) and Vittorio Gassman (by Gualtiero De Angelis). The song "El negro zumbon", known as "Anna" in the U.S., was a million-selling single on MGM Records in 1953. (The recording was taken directly from the soundtrack of the film.)
