The aircraft flown by Rick was an Avro Anson, Coastal Commands standard reconnaissance and anti submarine aircraft. This aircraft made the first RAF attack of the war on a German submarine in September 1939. From the same company that designed and made the mighty Lancaster bomber.

Ken Annakin used several members of the stock company that were in the Huggett series of films that he made just before this, his first war film. This includes Kathleen Harrison and David Tomlinson.
This opens with a caddish well-to-do young man driving a young lady home and pretending that his car has just broken down on a quiet country lane. The exact same ploy was used in Ken Annakin's previous film, Vote for Huggett (1949).
