If you aren't all that familiar with Mexican movies, they aren't all monster films nor luchador movies! Like this film, they also made quite a few light and entertaining films that translate pretty well to folk here in the States.
It's fortunate that many of the DVDs of Pedro Infante's films have English captions, as his films tend to be quite enjoyable and a bit sentimental. He was, in his time, an incredibly popular singing and actor in his native Mexico.
In "Dicen Que Soy Mujeriego" (roughly translated "They Say I'm a Ladies Man"), Pedro is a bit less likable than usual. Instead of the usual sweet guy, he's a playboy who never seems to sustain any interest in one woman. His grandmother is tired of this, as she wants grandkids....and it's not happening soon unless something changes in Pedro....and she would love to see him settle down with lovely Flor..and he and Flor seem to fight whenever they meet. Is this wish even possible with such a playboy?!
The best thing about this film is Pedro's grandmother. Sara García was funny and charming....and when she was with Infante, this cigar-smoking, gun-toting lady often upstaged him! The same with Tulsita, the little girl, when she's in the film....she's very cute and likable. Overall, an interesting and enjoyable film filled with, the usual, lots of pleasant songs by Infante.
By the way, although I liked the movie, what's with that donkey shooting scene?!?!
