The opening scene is of the War Memorial Flagpole in Pasadena, California. It was dedicated in 1927 in memory of the city's citizens who died in World War I. The traffic circle around it has since been eliminated and the flagpole was moved to the northeast corner of South Orange Grove Blvd. and West Colorado Blvd.
The street sign for "Oak Knoll Ridge" indicates the setting for the film is the Oak Knoll neighborhood in Pasadena. It is the southernmost section of the city, with development of upper-class houses that began in 1905.
Is a remake of the 1931 film "The Millionaire" starring George Arliss and, in a supporting role, a pre-"Public Enemy" James Cagney on the brink of stardom.
