Fun and Quircky
thecassdaleyshow25 September 2014
This little musical starring Eddie Bracken and Cass Daley, is a harmless, but entertaining rendezvous. Eddie plays the same underdog he does in all of his early films for Paramount, and Cass Daley ploughs through with her usual stamina. The story is simple, but entertaining. Virginia Welles is a capable match, and is certainly stunning to look at. She sings the lovely "What Am I Gonna Do About You". Now see, this movie features Cass Daley pretty heavily, so your tolerance of this movie depends entirely on whether or not you can handle her humor. Personally speaking, I think she is the best thing about this movie. She sings "I'm As Ready As I'll Ever Be" and "Mama Eu Quero/My Mammy". Over all, a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Entertaining musical

Warning: Spoilers
It would appear from the lack of votes cast for this film that this is a very rarely seen film.Since i enjoy Cass Daley and Spike Jones i decided to buy a video copy of this film.I think that the last time i saw this was about 30 years ago on BBC2.It is a cheerful loud film with a lot of enjoyable musical numbers. Now whether you enjoy them depends upon whether you like Cass Daley or Spike Jones.Eddie Bracken plays the same bumbling hayseed that he plays in virtually all the films he made for Paramount. The plot ,such as it is ,revolves around Bracken becoming an overnight oil millionaire and going to New York to spend his money. When he receives unwelcome publicity over the radio then every girl wants to meet him and spend his money.\anyway an enjoyable 90minutes

Extremely high energy...and quite goofy.

When the story begins, Henry Haskell (Eddie Bracken) is miserable. When he shows up for his date with his long-time girlfriend, he finds her at the church...getting married to some other guy! But his sadness is short-lived as he soon discovers oil on his property. His friend suggests he go on holiday...to enjoy the money and forget about his girlfriend. So, Henry heads to New York City where this rube seems ripe for the picking. Soon he has two women who want him---one who clearly only cares about his money and the other, well, time will tell.

This is a VERY high energy film, thanks not only to the plot but by the appearance of Spike Jones and His City Slickers. This band certainly isn't subtle or sophisticated...but they are fun. In fact, that could be said about the whole film...not exactly sophisticated but still fun.
