After all of the Tea Totallers are substituted for Bugs Bunny, the (originally correct) order of the teams on the scoreboard reverses.
The background (along the third-base side) of the stadium is different when the Gas-House Gorilla is pitching versus when Bugs is pitching. In both cases, the view is from the first-base side of the stadium.
Halfway through the cartoon, the scoreboard shows the Gas-House Gorillas after four innings with the following scores: 10 + 28 + 16 + 42 for a total of 96 runs. Yet, in the bottom of the ninth, the announcer gives the score as "Gas-House Gorillas: 95 points. Bugs Bunny: 96."
Bugs is playing for the home team. At the end of the cartoon, he is leading the Gashouse Gorillas 96-95. The gorillas have two outs, one man on base and a batter at the plate. The announcer says that a home run would be a win for the Gorillas. However, the home team always has the final ups in a game, so even if the Gorillas scored in the top of the ninth inning, Bugs would have a comeback opportunity.
Concerning the final at-bat in the cartoon, the ball would've been a home run once it crosses the outfield fence in fair territory, nullifying any attempts for Bugs to catch it for an out. Secondly, even if the ball was still legally in play, Bugs throwing his mitt up to catch the ball is illegal. According to rule 5.06(b)(4)(C) (formerly 7.05(c)), if a fielder throws a glove at a fair ball and the glove makes contact, all runners (including the batter) may advance three bases, and "the ball is in play and the batter may advance to home base at his peril."
At the start, the Gas-House Gorillas are playing their half of the fourth inning, and the scoreboard jumps from 15 to 40. The Teat Totallers then have a chance at bat. When the Gorillas come up again, the scoreboard continues to advance runs in the fourth inning, when they should have been in the fifth.
