In two other films, Since You Went Away (1944) and The Clock (1945), Robert Walker also played an enlisted man who meets a girl and quickly falls in love with her. The three films were released with 18 months of one another.

Filmed from March to May 1945 while WWII was still raging, but not released until late December 1945, there are a few contemporary war-related and relevant items in this film. The flag in the window of the new apartment with the single (blue) star indicated a member of the household was in the military. Mary's pin, that Freddy gave her, is a representation of that flag as well. When John unexpectedly returns in a suit, he is wearing the Honorable Service Lapel Button on his lapel, indicating he was honorably discharged from the service.
Final film of Mary Bovard.
Betsy Stoddard's debut.
