Sex & Nudity

  • A girl is briefly topless from behind.
  • The two oldest Smith sisters are seen in corsets as they get ready for a ball. Considering the time period in which the film takes place, they are actually pretty well covered. One of the sisters becomes increasingly uncomfortable wearing it, complaining that she cannot breathe. The scene is played for laughs.
  • At the beginning, a little girl is wearing wet white clothes that are transparent and you can see her backside a bit.
  • Two mild kisses.

Violence & Gore

  • A couple of threats of corporal punishment on a child.
  • A little girl cuts her lip. You couldn't even tell if they didn't point it out.
  • A woman punches a man repeatedly, then bites his right hand.

Profanity

  • None. The most swearing in this movie is when a man says "There will be H to pay" (He only says the letter H, not even the actual word)

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Pipe smoking and an aborted attempt to light a cigar.
  • A little girl sings a song about being drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There is a scene where a little girl is walking in the street at night on halloween that could possibly be frightening to little kids watching this movie.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The youngest Smith child becomes increasingly upset over moving to New York and finally flies into a rage towards the end of the film, when she runs outside and smashes some of her snowmen with a stick, screaming, "I'd rather kill them if we can't take them with us!" (She's a dramatic child and often silly throughout the film). One of the elder Smith daughters runs out after her and attempts to soothe her sobbing younger sister, only to begin crying as well and the sisters hug and cry together with their father watching on. It is a highly emotional, if somewhat overdone scene.
