Miss Helen O'Connell Delivers the Goods to a Captive Audience
WeatherViolet3 August 2010
Well, the lovely, pleasant and talented Helen O'Connell gracefully rises to the task to live up to this title's admonition, "Sing, Helen, Sing."

Helen very capably spotlights three of her vocal arrangements to entertain U.S. Troops who correspond with Paramount Pictures to request Helen's singing amid their dream situations.

An unidentified announcer introduces each of Helen's three numbers, by reading selections from a stack of notes submitted by Servicemen.

When a Marine requests that Helen O'Connell appear in a nightclub in formal-wear, she selects a flowing black lace evening gown and matching gloves to deliver her rendition of "Murder, He Says," with Joe Venuti and his Orchestra accompanying.

When a Naval Sailor requests that Miss O'Connell remain in her quarters, she lets her hair down, to brush her golden curls before the mirror over her vanity, while wearing a silky floral print tan dress, and introducing "He Didn't Ask Me," during which she rises to retrieve her black purse and white gloves to apply, before exiting as if to run errands.

When an Army Soldier requests for Helen to appear in the car of a moving railroad train, to entertain a unit personally, she graciously materializes, attired in a grey tweed dress suit with white blouse, to deliver "I Have Faith (So Do You)," then inviting one and all to join into the merriment along with a Bouncing Ball Sing-Along.

Helen O'Connell, naturally, carries herself well through the segments of this Short-Subject film, complete with her professional glamorous appearance, her well-tuned, enunciating vocals, her pleasant outlook and her unceasing smile.
