Lupe Vélez plays a dual role, twin sisters Rita and Elaine. After escaping a torpedoed ship, Rita shows up in Manhattan where she takes the place of her Broadway star twin sister Elaine, who's having problems with her marriage and needs to make a getaway. Neither Elaine's husband nor Rita's saxophone-player boyfriend are aware of the switch.
Mistaken identity and a dual-role is the theme when Rita Manners (Lupe Velez) switches places with her twin sister Elaine (Lupe Velez), a Broadway star who is suffering from the after-effects of escaping from a torpedoed ship on the way back from an England vacation and a bout of martial difficulties. Complications arise in the form of gangsters, the FBI and a producer with a dislike for married women in his shows. Neither Rita's boyfriend nor Elaine's husband notice the difference in a massive suspension of disbelief.—Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>
