The Iturriagas and the Valdivias have lived confronted since 200 years ago from now. Grandfather Valdivia has made promise his grandson, Manuel in the cemetery to revenge the family against the Iturriagas and always despise them. One day, comes María Ángela Valdivia, Manuel's cousin, to visit the family. The grandfather encourages Manuel to be friendly and flirt with her. But during a ride, María will be surprised by a stormy weather, finding refuge inside a tumbledown hacienda. There, she'll meet with Fernando, one of the Iturriagas. María and Fernando will feel attracted each other since that time, despite the vain personality of her, who believes that all countrymen and ranchers are ignorants. But she's surprised because Fernando is a well educated and cult man. However, when Manuel finds out that Fernando Iturriaga has a relationship with Maria, problems will come up. Manuel will face up to Fernando. Even the grandfather gathers together some of his best men in order to chase Fernando and Maria, whom are escaping from his anger, becoming later a great tragedy in The Rock of the Souls.
