The Navy Blues Sextet were the winners of a contest in which U.S. soldiers were asked to pick the six most beautiful women from a field of 150, many of whom were Warner Bros. contract actresses. The winners were Georgia Carroll, Alexis Smith, Loraine Gettman (John Amero), Kay Aldridge, Marguerite Chapman and Peggy Diggins. Smith was replaced by Claire James after she was assigned a role in Dive Bomber (1941).
Don Rowan, who appears in this film as a Marine, is not related to Dan Rowan, who was famous for Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (1967). However, both were in Hollywood at the same time. Dan Rowan was a writer for Paramount at the time this film was released, then joined the Army Air Force after the U.S. was thrust into the war, becoming a distinguished fighter pilot.
The song being played by the band during the awards ceremony (near the end of the movie) is "Semper Paratus" - the official song of United State Coast Guard.
