Mei Lee Lang, a Chinese girl who is an authority on astrology, is on board an ocean liner bound for San Francisco, California, and she foretells the death of a prominent importer or oriental goods within the next forty-eight hours. And he is murdered with time to spare. Since Mei Lee foretold the murder, the city's police inspector thinks she would be worth interrogating and, ere long, she has convinced him that there is something to astrology. He turns her loose on the passengers and she whips out her Zodiac, and questions each witness and suspect, beginning with their date-of-birth, and starts casting out horoscopes all over the place and comes up with some startling information , including foretelling two more murders, before the real murderer is finally exposed...by the stars, of course.
