AMC used to show these short subjects from the 1930's and 1940's and I could watch them for hours. It is so entertaining and educational to see Hollywood (in the form of Paramount) marvelling at all these new-fangled contraptions that you and I take for granted. Wouldn't it be great if this series was available on DVD or VHS as a set?

Popular Science on DVD
info-118555 February 2007
The very first "Popular Science" historic Paramount Cinema Series DVD is now available at www.CinemaShorts.com. It's a compilation release (140 Minutes) from the same folks who brought you the series on American Movie Classics in the 1990s.
This DVD presents "Planes, Trains & Automobiles," "Things to Come - Inventions That Changed the World," "Those Wacky Gizmos & Gadgets" and "Home of the Future."
The DVD also includes a complete "Unusual Occupations" episode as well as a musical excerpt from the "Speaking of Animals" series (which was created by Tex Avery). There's even a biography on series producer Jerry Fairbanks.
