In the moonlight, the ship has two funnels and is lit up like a large passenger ship. In the storm scenes, the ship is smaller and has only one funnel.
When Gaskell and MacArdle are at the rail, the camera angle reverses position several times, switching from an inboard and an outboard position, but the two actors never switch positions; Gaskell always on the left and MacArdle always on the right.
Although China Doll (Jean Harlow) is completely drenched from head to toe in the storm, she appears in the scenes immediately thereafter with her hair in place, perfectly coiffed with every hair, wave and curl just exactly as before.
When Rockwell hastily exits Gaskell's cabin, the door closes twice.
When the Malays are in the bridge, the engine telegraphs are at half speed ahead. The scene cuts immediately to the engine room, and the telegraph there is at stop.
The ship's log entry near the end shows position 5° 7' N by 105° 08' E, and the entry begins "Four days' voyage from Singapore." That position is 240 nautical miles from Singapore, which would be only 2.5 knots over four days, a quite slow speed.
(at around 48 mins) During the storm when Jamesy MacArdle grabs China Doll and swings her around in his room towards his dresser, her dress strap comes down revealing what appears to be her bare breast. She quickly lifts her strap and continues.
As the Typhoon blows doors open during card game, China Doll (Jean Harlow) can be seen holding her hair on her head (i.e., Harlow is holding her wig on). This is one of several scenes where this happens. Harlow had cut her hair short to grow her natural color out, and wore a platinum wig throughout filming.
