• Robert Harley Hedges : Every year, in every theater, some young person makes a hit. Sometimes it's a big hit, sometimes a little one. It's a distinct success, but how many of them keep their heads? How many of them work? Youth comes to the fore. Youth has its hour of glory. But too often it's only a morning glory - a flower that fades before the sun is very high.

  Ticket Taker : [on the telephone with an inquiring person as Eva Lovelace walks past the ticket window on her way upstairs to an acting agency]  There's nothin' in front of the 14th row, madame.

  Elevator Operator : [to others in an upstairs hallway as Eva and Robert Harley Hedges exit the elevator]  Going down.

  Will Seymour : [Eva and Robert enter Lewis Easton Productions' acting agency]  Oh hello Robert, how are you?

  Robert Harley Hedges : Ah, hello.

  Will Seymour : A tough season isn't it?

  Robert Harley Hedges : Pretty tough, yes. But I'm afraid nowadays they're all tough seasons.

  Will Seymour : Yes, I guess you're right.

  Minor Role : Come right in Mr. Hedges, Mr. Easton is expecting you.

  Robert Harley Hedges : Thank you.

  [enters Lewis Easton's office] 

  Minor Role : Uh, Mr. Kellogg, will you come back tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock?

  Actor : Thank you.

  Minor Role : Mr. Seymour won't see anyone else today.

  Actor : [to Gwendolyn Hall while leaving the agency]  Goodbye Miss Hall, good luck.

  [Eva sits down across the room from Gwendolyn and waits for her chance to be seen by Mr. Easton]
