Lawrence 'Larry' Baldwin : Dear, don't ever become a slave to it.
Doris 'Dodo' Baldwin : About all there is for a girl in this man's town.
Lawrence 'Larry' Baldwin : Oh, don't you believe it.
Doris 'Dodo' Baldwin : What else is there? Can you imagine mother if I went in a trade or on the stage or something?
Lawrence 'Larry' Baldwin : How about marrying a nice young fellow that's really worth while?
Doris 'Dodo' Baldwin : And spending the rest of my life keeping him sober? That's a career!
Lawrence 'Larry' Baldwin : No, I don't mean that, dear. I mean really helping develop his possibilities. You might even help him become President - if that job ever becomes desirable again.

Lawrence 'Larry' Baldwin : We all have our dreams. Some of us are fortunate enough to have those dreams realized. This building imbedded in rock, but built upon an ideal, reminds us that man never builds alone. There's always a woman besides him. And to this woman whose sound advice and deep understanding is responsible for what little success I may have achieved. And who is really responsible for the fulfillment of my dream: this building. To that woman, I humbly offer my heartfelt thanks.

Lawrence 'Larry' Baldwin : Mattie, what's the matter with the service around here?
Mattie, Natalie's maid : I'm sorry, Mr. Baldwin, but I was busy in the kitchen.
Lawrence 'Larry' Baldwin : You were? Well, the only way you can square yourself with me is to get me a nice big Highland with a lot of ice.
Mattie, Natalie's maid : [laughs] Yes, sir.

Doris 'Dodo' Baldwin : [Playing pool] Hello, darling.
Lawrence 'Larry' Baldwin : Hello, sweet. Want a game?
Doris 'Dodo' Baldwin : You can't. You've just got time to dress.
Lawrence 'Larry' Baldwin : Ha-ha. I'm not going.
Doris 'Dodo' Baldwin : What? You lucky so-and-so. How'd you get out of it?
Lawrence 'Larry' Baldwin : Oh, business.
Doris 'Dodo' Baldwin : Pretty nifty. Shall I start this?
Lawrence 'Larry' Baldwin : Why, surely. What are daughters for?
Doris 'Dodo' Baldwin : For suger.
