This 21-minute short from Producer Hal Roach concerns the mishaps which befall a couple of small-town guys when a new kid arrives in town and wins the hearts of all their friends because he is the opposite of them. He is talented, good-looking, a singer and pianist, outgoing and adorable to the girls. Hurt and feeling left out of the affections of their friends, the two goofs devise a scheme to smirch the image of the new guy. One of them dons a costume as a Kentucky Colonel determined to defend his daughter's virtue. The other dresses as a homely Kentucky lass who has apparently had a baby by the new kid. Baby in hand, they show up at an estate where the new kid is serenading all the kids in town, the former friends of the two goofs. The new kid is immediately onto the plot, and he foils them by insisting they join the party. He drags them into the festivities whereupon they are unmasked, but in a sense succeed because they have achieved their goal and have been welcomed back into the small town inner circle of kids.

The two goofs are played by Mickey Daniels and Grady Sutton, known in this film by his nickname of "Alabam". The beautiful blonde is Mary Kornman, age 17, who is better known for her work in the Our Gang films. One of the other actors is Gordon Douglas whose acting career totaled a mere 16 films, but who achieved his major work by directing 97 others. Blanche Payson, who was 51 when this film was made, has a unique spot in history by being the first policewoman in New York before her film career began. Marvin Hatley, a little old to be playing a teenager at age 27, went on to secure a lengthy career as a music composer in 65 films, during which time he composed the popular Laurel and Hardy Theme.
