While the film was playing in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in July of 1932, Ricardo Cortez published his own gossip column in the Scranton Republican.
S. B. Tucker, manager of the Byrd Theater in Richmond, Virginia, concocted a publicity stunt to promote the film there. He hired two black musicians, each with a cloth on his back reading "Is My Face Red?," to entertain at a local gathering.
The twin radio towers briefly shown when Poster is said to be going on the radio are those atop the Warner Hollywood Theatre (Hollywood Pacific Theatre since 1968) at 6433 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.
