Mary,
Ethel Merman, is the daughter of the owner of a touring Medicine Show that goes from small-town to small-town, with Mary driving the wagon that also serves as the performer's stage, while her father sells his patent medicine to the rubes. While driving and singing "Hello, My Lover, Goodbye" which is her life as she is never in one spot long enough to kindle a romance, she meets and falls for a young man she this may be the one. But he gets a bit too bold for Mary's taste. Later, she sings "Shake Well Before Using" while her father is doing his sales pitch. But, at the end, she reprises the opening song, but with the suitor beside her in the departing wagon.
