It's a B western

Best line in the movie is when Tonia screams "no, Henchman Bull!" to Bull, who is credited as a "Henchman." Just never heard someone callout a character as it's shown in the script.

Raven the horse plays a stellar part as himself.

Some nice photography of scenery in the long shots.

The Hurricane Horseman review

Obscure early '30s programmer featuring Lane Chandler, whose tenure as a leading man was unaccountably brief. He's a terrible actor, but so were the likes of Hoot Gibson and Ken Maynard who enjoyed much longer careers at the top of the bottom of the heap. At just 50 minutes long there's not much time for character development, but writer Oliver Drake does at least include a few moments that distinguish Hurricane Horseman from the countless other B-Westerns.

Not a single shot matches!

Warning: Spoilers
I am exaggerating of course! There are one or two shots that match, or maybe even ten or twelve in this delightfully incompetent, fifth rate western that Alpha offer as a support to their DVD, "Western Racketeers" (which also plunges to the depths of incompetence but not to the same degree that this one does.)

As in "Western Racketeers", anyone who was passing by the set, seems to have been roped in, no matter how incompetent or unsuitable. Not only does the script seem to have been made up on the run, it bears only the slightest resemblance to Tom Weaver's description on the Alpha DVD.

I imagine that Tom assembled that description from a publicity release as the film really has no plot to speak of at all. It's really just an assembly of bottom-of-the barrel out-takes and cheap (or free) stock footage that was clumsily sliced together with maybe a day or two of new footage and makes little sense. it's also rather jarring on the eyes and unsettling to the brain as at least eighty per cent of the footage doesn't match.

True, we do catch an occasional glimpse of people like Lane Chandler and Yakima Canutt. But I think they would be ashamed to admit that they had anything to do with "The Hurricane Horseman".
