An absolute must-see for Yak Canutt fans!

I'm surprised to be first in line to submit a review for "Wild Horse Canyon (1925), as it has been available for some years now. And it stars Yakima Canutt!

ADMITTEDLY, the Alpha DVD features a mixed bag of prints. The first reel is an original tinted wreck from the Kodascope 5-reel cut-down version (which is actually pretty good so far as length is concerned, considering the original ran only 6 reels anyway; but, unfortunately, it was obviously a very popular rental item and has consequently been well and truly worn down to the emulsion). It's a chore to watch such a beat-up print, but fortunately it's only the first reel.

The rest of the movie has been pieced together from at least two different prints. One of them is very good. The other varies from barely acceptable to very poor. The good news is that even in its most pristine condition, the movie would take a distinct third place to "Desert Greed" (second) and "Hell Hounds of the Plains" (first) among Yak's silent features.
