Crossed Wires 1923 - Lost Film
PamelaShort17 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Telephone operator Marcel Murphy ( Gladys Walton ) who has aspirations of high society, overhears Mrs. Benson's ( Lillian Langdon ) conversation describing a party she is planning for her son, Ralph, ( George Stewart ) and she wangles an invitation by imitating Mrs. Benson's voice. During the party a maid accuses Marcel of the theft of another guest's jewelry. The girl appeals to Mr. Benson, who covers up for her by describing Marcel as the daughter of an old friend and then secretly installs her in a hotel suite. Troubles reach a climax when Ralph, Mrs. Benson and Marcel's parents arrive at the hotel at the same time and find Marcel alone with Mr. Benson. Matters are quickly explained, and Ralph asks Marcel to be his wife.

What a sad loss this comedy starring Gladys Walton and filmed by Universal Pictures is for fans of silent film from the 1920s.
