Women from Rabbits
Hitchcoc15 November 2017
Another simple magic show. Melies has an attractive trunk into which he puts several rabbits. Since stop action allows virtually anything, when the trunk is opened some women come out. Then he seems appear in numerous places without our seeing him move. I'm sure this was hard to make, but it's been done to death by the master.

aka Le Coffre enchante

Another trick film from the French master has him playing a magician who wraps up a piece of cardboard and pulls rabbits out of it. He then puts the rabbits into a magical trunk where women then come out. This is a pretty simple and laid back film from the director but the special effects still hold up pretty well, although there are a couple that's easy to spot how they're being done. Nothing here really sticks out as being great or amongst the director's finest work but it's still enjoyable from start to finish.

Warning: Spoilers
Another Melies magic show, this time about a long trunk used by the magician to make people transform into other people. The film is 3 minutes long and there's nothing new in it, just stop tricks and 1 dissolve. There are countless examples of this kind of film in Melies' career and this is just another one of those. Still, this is entertaining and can be considered a good start for people new to the directer.
