- Three brothers are separated and united after many years - one is brought up a Hindu, another a Muslim and the last (and most memorable) a Christian. Hilarity and adventure ensues.

It is then that the Shriram, Sita, and Madhu find out that Radha has a serious illness - a fact that was known to Avtar - but not communicated to them. This illness prevents her from being intimate with Madhu, and the only cure is when she has a child of her own. Will this marriage be annulled?
- Mangal Singh (Rajesh Khanna) has been a career criminal, whose criminal career began to steal food and to keep from starving, and thence got him in deeper and deeper in the criminal world. His crimes have caught up with him and he is sentenced to be hanged. He dramatically escapes with the help of underworld don, Suraj (Pinchoo Kapoor), and is on the run from the police. He lands up in a small village in Northern India, and becomes a school-teacher with the help of local restauranteur, Bijli (Mumtaz). He takes on the identity of Ramu, a friend of Shravan, and goes to live with Shravan's parents, Lalaji (Om Prakash) and Malti (Nirupa Roy), little knowing that they are the parents of a man he killed while escaping from the police.

- Hardworking, capable, honest and dedicated CBI inspector Shyam Kumar is assigned the case of bringing to justice the criminals behind the use of fake cheques to purchase commodities. The major draw-back in this case is that the perpetrators try the best possible ways to eliminate all evidences of this crime. As Shyam get down to the bottom he will find that this case gets more difficult as some people are not who they claim they are.
- A penniless musician is unwittingly forced to trade places with a look-alike diamond merchant/thief causing a comedy of errors by everyone involved.
- Preeti lives a wealthy lifestyle in Bombay along with her widower dad, Heerachand, and is a medical student. While on a trip to Simla, she meets and falls in love with a Casanova, Prem, and both get intimate. When her dad opposes this alliance, Prem challenges Heerachand regarding his daughter's love for him. He then leaves Preeti a note, explaining that her father refused the alliance and he was headed to meet his mother, who was urgently sick. Heerachand gets a hold of the letter before Preeti and changes the letter, writing that Prem went away as her father refused to provide any monetary compensation. Years later, both Prem and Preeti are fated to meet again. This time Prem is accompanied by a handicapped young lad, Rahul, while Preeti is about to get engaged to Dr. Amar. Preeti soon realizes that the reason Prem has re-appeared in her life to be near her nubile to-be sister-in-law, Tikki. The question remains what will she do under the circumstances to try and expose Prem as well as protect her past from Dr. Amar? It turns out that Rahul is Prem and Preeti's son and that Prem has come to Dr.Amar for Rahul's treatment. Preeti's father had told her after the birth of the child that she had given birth to a still-born child. After Rahul's operation Preeti comes to know about the reality and confronts her father who confesses to her that he had lied about her giving birth to a dead child and asks her forgiveness but Preeti retorts saying that she an never forgive him as he had lied to her and thinks herself deceived by her own father. Rahul's operation turns to be successful and Preeti and Prem are reunited with their son along with their families.

- Rajan lives a wealthy lifestyle in Basantpur along with his mom; dad, Dindayal; a semi-senile paternal uncle, Bholey; and a widowed paternal aunt. During his childhood, while lighting Diwali fire-crackers, he accidentally set his friend's, Shanti, face afire, making her lose her vision. Full of remorse, he studies medicine, and decides to become an eye surgeon just to restore her vision. Years later he does qualify, becomes a surgeon in a Delhi hospital, while his dad is now the Municipal Chairman. Shanti, who lives a poor lifestyle, with her dad, Ramdas, the owner of a publication 'Praja Samachar', and her mom, travels to Delhi to have her eyes operated on. The operation takes place but she is still unable to see, and when they return home there is more bad news as Ramdas has been arrested for killing Dindayal's chauffeur, is found guilty, and sentenced to two years in prison. Questions that remain unanswered: Why did Ramdas commit this crime; will Shanti regain her sight; what impact will Ramdas' conviction have on Basantpur; and what will be the fate of Ramdas and his family after he completes his time in prison?
- An heiress accidentally kills her uncle in self-defence and disposes of his corpse but is later haunted by his apparition.
- It was at the Meena Bazar that Shehzada Khurram first laid eyes on Arjuman Banu. When their eyes met it was love at first sight for both of them. When Queen Noor Jehan, one of the wives of Shahenshah Jehangir, finds out she is enraged, as she wants Khurram to get married to her daughter, Ladli Banu, even though Arjuman is her niece. She plots to hold Arjuman as a prisoner in her palace, but in vain; then she attempts to have Khurram sent away to battle - again in vain, as Khurram returns triumphant, and is named 'Shah Jehan'. Then she has her step-son, Saifuddin, arrange to kill Khurram - again in vain. Khurram gets stabbed but with Arjuman's help he recovers, returns home, but does not tell his father, fearing for his health. When Jehangir hears of Arjuman's assistance, he gladly arranges their marriage, while Saifuddin ends up marrying Ladli. Then Khurram is sent away to another kingdom, leaving Noor Jehan to plot against him. When Jehangir falls ill, she takes over the reins, has Khurram declared an intruder and sends her armies to bring him in or alternatively his two sons. Watch as events unfold, which will ultimately lead to the building of one of the seven wonders of the world - The Taj Mahal.
- Shyam & Radha meet in college, fall in love and get into clandestine marriage when things get very intimate. But Shyam's family coerce him to marry Meera. Radha has an evil aunt who misinforms Shyam about her character being loose. Shyam ends up marrying Meera. Time passes, Radha gives birth to a boy. Meera gets to know of this. She brings the baby home lying to Shyam that the kid is hers. Shyam does not know that its actually his kid and begins to hate both Meera and the kid. Eventually Shyam and Radha meet again and old sparks are re-ignited...
- Renukadevi is widowed and the mother of a son named Ram. Her husband had indulged in all possible vices, and passed away unexpectedly. Her father-in-law, Rai, does not want Ram to repeat his father's mistakes, and teaches him all the positive values of the Hindu religion, in particular the contents of the Holy Book "Geeta". As a result, Ram refrains from all known vices, is an expert in yogic exercises, decides to live the life of a celibate, and refuses to marry anyone. When Rai passes away, Renuka asks Ram to fulfill his grandfather's last wishes, one of which was to get married. She even arranges his introduction to Aarti, an attractive young woman. But Ram is convinced that marriage is not for him. Renuka is overjoyed when her estranged brother, Gopinath, and his son, Rakesh, return from abroad. With their help she hopes to get Ram marries with Aarti. Then things get complicated when Rakesh falls in love with Aarti. Ram leaves town to attend to business, and circumstances propel Renuka to will her entire estate to Rakesh and change his name to Bharat, with the blessings of a renowned saint named Ishwar Baba. After this ceremony, the people around Renuka start showing their true colors, and after an open-palmed stinging slap from Aarti, Renuka realizes that her place in this house is now worse than that of a lowly servant. Renuka now finds out that Aarti, Gopinath, and Rakesh are not who they claim to be, but will this realization be enough to reverse the order of events, or does fate have something even worse in store for Renuka?
- When Aryaputra Samant Bijgupt ignores Yashodhara and continues to frequent Rajnartaki Chitralekha, Yashodhara's father, Mrityunjay, approaches celibate Yogi Kumargiri, who reprimands Chitralekha and asks her to free Bijgupt so that he can marry and sire a heir. - Orphaned Leela lives with her cruel aunt, Rangilibai; cousin, Kaushalya; and uncle. When Rangilibai arranges Kaushalya's marriage to a wealthy landlord, Leela agrees to go with her as a maid as part of her dowry. But things change for the better for Leela, when the landlord rejects Kaushalya and decides to get married to Leela. As a result Leela gets married and moves into the landlord's house. Then things take a turn for the worse, when Leela is accused of having a lover, and is asked to leave. She goes to Rangilibai's house, but is shunned and kicked out. Alone, helpless, she comes upon a distant relative named Gaman Singh, who takes her in to live with him and his wife, Swarupbai. When Leela is asked to beg for alms, she refuses, and Swarupbai blinds her with special eye-drops. Then a blinded Leela is led through the streets and made to sit daily near the steps of a temple singing and begging for alms. It looks like fate has chosen this profession for Leela, and there appears to be no way out of this vicious circle for a blind young woman, who has been shunned by her husband and relatives.
- Young and attractive Kunti has fallen in love with a young man by the name of Anil, and both intend to marry. They do get intimate which ends in Kunti getting pregnant. Kunti finds out that Anil comes from a poor family, and she would only like to marry someone rich, so that she can lead a comfortable and stylish life. When Anil finds out that Kunti does not marry him, he kills himself. Kunti is unable to abort the child, as it is illegal at that time, so she goes away from her home, with a close friend, Chanda, and gives birth to a baby girl, who she leaves in Chanda's care. Eventually, Kunti's dreams are fulfilled when she marries a rich and wealthy Barrister by the name of Avinash Kumar. Unfortunately, Kunti is unable to conceive, however the couple are contend with their lives. Years later, Kunti finds out that Avinash is having an affair with a female client by the name of Moon Moon, a woman born out of wedlock. When she confronts him, he admits knowing and meeting his mistress, and openly declares his love for her, leaving Kunti humiliated and downcast. Kunti then decides to meet Moon Moon and it is during this meeting she will find out the stark truth behind Avinash's affair with her.

Years later, Sunder has grown up to be a conman, and Shanker a black-marketeer. Both Sunder and Shankar meet without knowing each other's identity, and a confrontation takes place. When they realize they are related, they decide to expose Sonia, and open Teja's eyes, not knowing that Teja is completely blinded by Sonia's love, and will not let anyone to come between them.
- Brash, outspoken, and aethiest Shanker lives in a small village with his son, Mohan, and his devout wife, Durga, who is expecting another child soon. Shanker and Durga are incompatible, as Shanker believes in living for the moment, and making the most of it, while Durga believe that present actions will come back to haunt later in life, and as a result arguments take place daily. One day Shanker decides to leave and takes Mohan with him, leaving a pregnant Durga alone. Subsequently, Durga gives birth to a baby boy, Ajay, and re-locates to another place, as she can no longer afford to live there. She is looked after by a Catholic priest. Shanker and Mohan take to crime in the big city, and soon amass a huge fortune and immense wealth. Years go by, both Mohan and Ajay have grown up. Mohan and Shanker operate a crime syndicate, partnering with Keshavlal, a notorious gangster. Ajay operates a publicatin called Karmayogi, in which he publishes news and information about crime and criminals, and does an expose on Keshavlal. Mohan and Shanker want a bigger stake in the share, which Keshav agrees to, but arranges for Shanker to get killed, and blames it on Ajay. When Shanker is killed, Mohan swears to avenge his father's death and begins the trek of locating and killing Ajay.

- Deep Sharma lives a very poor lifestyle with his widowed mom, Radha, and a younger brother, Ashok, who he would like to become a Judge. Then things get complicated when a bandit who calls himself Sangram Singh goes on a crime-spree throughout the region. The Police launch a man-hunt and their investigations take them to Jani Babu, and after questioning him, they find out that the writer is Deep. Before they could arrest Deep, Maheshwari is killed in his home, and the Police are notified that Deep is the killer - and the witness identifying Deep as the killer is none other than Lajwanti herself. The questions that come to mind are did Deep really kill Maheshwari; and has he been living a double life?
- After the passing away of son and daughter-in-law, prominent businessman, Rai, undertakes to look after his grand-daughter, Asha, with a lot of love and affection. When she grows old enough to be a ravishing beauty, he is anxious to get her married to the right man before he passes away. He finds out that Asha has a boyfriend by the name of Madan Malhotra, and although he has never met him, he disapproves of him, but finally gives in to Asha's wishes. When Madan returns from abroad, Rai is pleasantly surprised at Asha's choice and welcomes Madan with open arms. Shortly thereafter on his birthday, Rai formally announces their engagement. When Rai does not know is that Madan is not who he claims to be but is, in fact, a thief and pick-pocket by the name of Shankar, who has been hired by Asha to impersonate the real Madan. Watch what happens when the real Madan returns and attempts to assert his love for Asha.

HOW DO BADE AND CHOTE RETRIEVE THE MONEY?
- Amar (Rajesh Khanna) and Prem (Prem Chopra) are college buddies, while Asha (Babita) and Shobana (Nazma) become friends. Marriages are arranged; there is a hitch. Dowry is demanded. In Prem's case his older brother, who had resolved never to ask for dowry, is constrained to do so to enable Prem to buy his air ticket to the US for higher studies. Ramprasad, Asha's dad fails to show up for the wedding with the agreed sum, and the wedding is canceled, at the last minute. The amazing thing is that Asha's betrothed never has seen or met Asha, only his parents had. Obedient son that he is, he allows his dad to dictate his actions, and trusts his parents have made the right decision. Prem on his return from the USA has changed for the worse; he takes to drinking, rejects his wife and becomes an office predator, stalking his secretary. She is in love with Amar, but needs the job to help pay off a debt incurred when her father went missing, together with the payroll money he had withdrawn from the bank on behalf of his employer. Asha gamely puts up with the workplace harassment, with a hidden agenda of setting things right for Shobana's marriage. An elaborate charade ensues to teach Prem a lesson in humiliation. When he fails in seduction, is abduction the only option?

- After working as a teacher in Delhi for several years, Master Dinanath decides to re-locate to a small village to spend the rest of the days teaching in a nearby school, his pay is the livelihood on which he, his wife and his daughter, Geeta alias Guddi, depend on for their survival. When one of his ex-students, Rajesh Agarwal, arrives from Delhi to look after his fruit and plantation business, Dinanath welcomes him home. Shortly thereafter, Geeta and Rajesh fall in love and are married in a simple ceremony. Rajesh wanted to marry Geeta first before telling his mother and elder married brother, Naresh, as he is afraid that his dowry-seeking mom, may forbid him from marrying Geeta. He hopes that she will ultimately give-in and accept Geeta as her daughter-in-law. With this hope they depart for Delhi. A few months later, Dinanath and his wife receive a letter from Geeta informing them all is well and that her mother-in-law's anger has subsided. Delighted with this news, Dinanath decides to visit Geeta in her palatial house, not knowing that this visit will change his life forever.
- An Indian ruler struggles to rescue her family and liberate her land from the British.
- School-teacher Indu lives a middle-class lifestyle along with her widower and unemployed dad, Moolchand Chabbe. They rent the upper floor of the building and her dad makes it his duty to prevent anyone from occupying the lower floor so as not to tamper with the flow of the municipal water pipe-line. Ravi Shankar Chaube, a Poet and an Engineer by profession succeeds in renting the lower floor, impresses Indu so much so that she falls in love with him, and with Moolchand's conditional blessing that he live with them as a Ghar Jamai, both get married. Indu quits her job, and after sometime they become parents of a boy and name him Ashoo. Four years later differences surface as Moolchand spends a lot of Ravi's hard-earned money gambling. Things escalate to such an extent that Ravi puts everyone on a strict budget forcing Indu to get her job back. An enraged Ravi then asks Indu to make a choice - either quit the job or else face divorce proceedings.
- Sapna (Sharmila Tagore), flying back to India from the USA, is involved in an airplane engine "flameout". She loves poetry, in particular the work of a poet called Ujjwala. Unable to distinguish between the poet and the poetry, she sets out on a journey to meet the poet in a place called Phulwari. Sapna believes that Ujjwala is her dream man. Her wealthy father, worried by her distraction consults a psychiatrist who pronounces that Sapna needs treatment and must be sent to his clinic for an extended period of time. Running away from home, in a beautiful red MG TF (probably a 1954 model) she comes across Sunil (Shashi Kapoor) working on his Jeep (one of the early right-hand drive versions that Mahindras produced). A couple of accidents later they find themselves in a luxurious Mercedes Benz tour coach (possibly an O 321 H - with a rear engine) and their journey of exploration begins. Faced with obstacles, raised by greedy people who want to get the informant's reward announced by Sapna's father Randhir Singh Chauhan; and going through some comic as well as dangerous interludes the screen couple arrive at the climax on their way to Phulwari. Sunil is doing his best to escort Sapna to Phulwari. How Sapna reconciles her love for Ujjwala, who she has only met through his poetry and Sunil's unreciprocated love for her makes for an interesting denouement.
- Inspector Raj Singh's father was killed by Shankar and his men for gold. Years later he locates them but also finds that he has a step brother Suraj who works for Shankar now known as Devi Dayal.
- Sent to Boarding School at a very young age, Mala returns home to Delhi after 10 years to find that everything has changed. Her widowed mom has re-married wealthy Khemchand, and all of the family, which consists of sister, Shashi; brother, Deep, and a younger brother, Munna, live in a palatial house. Khemchand does business illicitly as an insurance broker, when the government decides to nationalize insurance companies, he is arrested and sentenced to 7 years in jail. His entire family is thrown out on the street, where they are taken care of by Vijay, a poor stage artist, who has fallen in love with Mala, who also has a place in her heart for him. But circumstances keep the two lovers apart, so much so that Mala is forced to refuse Vijay's help, re-locates further away from him, and joins a dance troupe. When Vijay finds out, he confronts her, and it is then Mala tells him that she is pregnant and going to have a child - a child that is definitely not of Vijay's - but of an unknown lover of Mala.

- Kedarnath Bhargav, his wife, Laxmi, and two sons, Ram and Lakshman are homeless. While traveling, their train derails and the family is separated into 3 groups. While Laxmi works as a maidservant in the house of Bombay's Mayor and his daughter, Rekha; Ram has been abducted by a career criminal, and Kedarnath & Lakshman are together. Ratanlal Verma, a kind-hearted man, with a son named Prakash comes to Lakshman's rescue, is run over by a truck, and becomes a cripple. Kedarnath and Lakshman re-locate to Ratanlal's village, Raampur, and they live together as one family. Years later, Prakash has grown up, and has re-located to Bombay, where he finds employment with a jeweler. When Ratanlal does not hear from him for 2 months, they ask Lakshman to go to Bombay and ensure that Prakash is alright. Upon arrival in Bombay, Lakshman finds out that Prakash has been arrested by the Police for killing a man named Kundan Kumar, he is subsequently found guilty, and sentenced to be hanged. Lakshman takes it upon himself to find out who actually killed Kundan, and dons the guise of Louis D'Souza and gets himself enrolled in the Serpent Gang. What Lakshman does not know is that the leader of this gang is Kumar, who is none other than Ram, and when he finds out he must make a choice - either to save Prakash from the gallows or turn his very own brother in - to be hanged until death.

One day, Shobha and Ajit's mom have an argument, and Shobha angrily lifts up her hand to slap her, only to be stopped by Ajit, who asks Shobha to leave immediately. Shobha leaves and returns to her father's house, leaving Ajit and his mother behind wondering what had changed Shobha so much, and whether to get Ajit married a second time or not.
