- Joel encounters a 108-year-old man who has come home to Cicely. He tells Joel that Cicely, founded by two incredible, free-thinking women named Roslyn and Cicely, was once considered the "Paris of the North". The series regulars appear in this episode as various residents from 1909.

- Maggie is approached by a dog whom she believes to be Rick reincarnate while Maurice tries to make a business scheme out of Marilyn's ostrich farm.
- When a new candidate signs up for the upcoming mayoral election in Cicely, this triggers a large amount of activity among the residents.

- Ruth Anne and Walt get stranded on a trip. Every time Shelley goes to the Laundromat she sees her daughter at a different age.
- Joel looks forward to a weekend in Juneau, hoping to spend it with attractive female physicians. But, instead, he winds up in a hotel suite with Maggie who clearly cramps his style. Meanwhile, Chris is flustered when Bernard, his "karmic doppelganger", returns from Africa.

- Dr. Joel Fleischman has his hands full when his fiancé Elaine flies to Cicely for a visit. He becomes so busy trying to defend himself against the townspeople's charges that he is a KGB agent releasing the Russian flu upon them and competing with Marilyn over the best treatment for the illness, that he has no time to spend with his betrothed. Instead Maggie, entertains Elaine, which only further annoys Joel.
- Ed is trying to figure out why he keeps waking up in strange places. Dr Fleischman is suffering from mysterious symptoms, but naturally doesn't trust the locals' diagnosis. Shelley has been singing for months.
- Joel is given a goat by a patient. After he objects, the patient decides to make him part of their tribe, but there are some tasks he must perform first. Holling mysteriously closes the bar and sends Shelley out of town.
- A former lawyer named Mike Monroe moves to town with a unique medical condition and has to live in a bubble. Ruth Anne's son comes for a visit.
- Maurice bribes a doctor to get a violinist released as he prepares a big birthday for Barbara.
- Family matters come to the forefront when Joel's parents, Nadine and Herb, visit. Nadine finds a unique connection with Marilyn and the eagles. Meanwhile Shelly is concerned that Holling will miss out on special father-son moments with their new baby after he announces that he's bored with sports.
- In an alternate reality, Fleishman is married to Shelly, Maggie is his nanny, Ruth Ann is a prominent physician whom he seeks partnership with, Chris tries to jump off a building and Maurice walks into their dinner party gun in hand.

- Ed is struggling to find his path in life and it doesn't help when Maurice wants to use his Hollywood contacts to organize a film festival. Joel's own path seems to have gone up in smoke when his truck ignites after he turns down Ruth-Anne's offer to join the volunteer fire department.
- Maurice's son Duk comes to ask for permission to marry. Holling has problems with Shelley and intimacy. Ed tries to save a native language with film.
- Maggie visits Joel up river for his birthday & fears for his life; too many people show up for the Capra's party & a stranded couple spend the night; Ed overcomes his fear of his computer.

- Joel has to talk a park ranger out of a fire tower. Maurice plans a fireworks show, but has objections from Adam. Ed gets struck by lightning.
- Chris tries to get a pilot license. Ed discovers an old diary and learns an disturbing fact. Marilyn acts as a sleuth.
- A rock musician (played by Adam Ant) accidentally arrives in Cicely, creating quite a stir-up among the locals. While Ed makes a documentary about the visit, Chris has trouble deciding how to put an old friend to his final rest.
- House-sitting for Maurice, Ed assumes his personality & throws lavish parties; Holling throws Maggie non-stop curves to buying Barbara's house and Joel feels the need to defend his lifestyle to a placid Marilyn.
- Maggie's 15 year old self haunts her; Shelly regrets throwing away a chain letter; cantankerous new barber Angelo is at odds with Chris; Joel finds out his head bump is malignant so he borrows Chris' bike & goes for a reckless joy ride.
- Hearing his brother and only surviving fellow Minnifeld died, Maurice looks for a 'son' to adopt. After Joel declines, he gets Chris to try, but although generosity gets them through the hard stuff, a game of croquet proves you can't adopt 'breeding'. When Ed tells Holling Jesse that the fiercest grizzly, who caused him to stop hunting anything else, is back, Shelly insists on joining them on a hunt which shows that although the men are older, the bear still knows them. Joel is asked to attend a hygiene class, but when he arrives learns it's for expectant mothers, which Maggie makes him improvise.
- A semi-retired KGB agent arrives in Cicely and reveals to Maurice that he once divulged some classified information. Holling finds a great nuisance in a health-care inspector who gives him some instructions to clean The Brick.
- Joel hooks a legendary fish. Ruth Anne runs off on Chris's motorcycle and runs with a motorcycle gang. Holling has an artistic crisis.
- Dr. Capra fights Maurice over an additive in his Cicely water which is making women lustful & aggressive and causing men to act like women. Joel, officially freed from his AK contract fights Shelly for his tapes that she has usurped.
- Ron and Eric plan their wedding, Holling is hired to cater, Maggie begins to experience earthquakes and Joel peeks inside Marilyn's diary.
- Joel throws a dinner party for his friends. A guy commits suicide and blames Chris for a song he heard. Shelley takes off for Canada.
- Marilyn walks out on her job; Maurice tries to impress an aristocratic English dame but Ruth Ann rescues the fox he intends to hunt; Holling's daughter has stood him up and Dr. Fleishman meets the ghosts of Yom Kippur past, present and future.
- Dr. Joel Fleischman is depressed when grumpy old patient Soapy Sanderson completely ignores his medical advice, and is stunned when he and Maggie are named joint executors of his 140 acres forest estate where only wolves live. Maggie wants to turn it into a nature reserve, however un-required it is in this part of Alaska. Joel is rather tempted by the Indian chief Ronkomkoma's idea to turn it into a tax shelter by formally drilling for oil which everybody knows isn't there, hoping it may pay his way back to New York. Later Joel learns Soapy was a spirituality college professor for 20 years. Soapy also left them a $200 Lafitte-Latour for their trouble, which nearly works a romantic wonder, and a journal. Meanwhile the press gets interested.
- A woman arrives in town claiming to be Holling's daughter. Marilyn looks for a new house and asks Maggie to help. A friend of Ed's migrates south.
- Maurice's heater blows up and his house catches on fire. Chris has an encounter with a cunning deer. Maggie tries to help Joel.

- An old tree near Cicely seems to be on its last legs and the locals enlist Joel to make a diagnosis.
- There's much to deal with in Cicely when Shelly's husband arrives with the hopes of taking her back to Saskatchewan, much to the astonishment of Holling. Furthermore, Maggie's boyfriend fears he will soon die as the next victim of the O'Connell curse and Ed searches for inspiration while working on his movie script.

- Ed mixes Dr Fleischman's trial prescriptions with placebos; Maurice bullies him to find out what's in the pills; Chris becomes jealous of his ventriloquist dummy & Shelly sees her casino dreams come true when the Devil comes into town.
