- When Detective Russo and his son, while on vacation, are kidnapped by an escaping hoodlum, Russo's colleagues must work fast to prevent murder at the end of the trip.
- When a burglary goes terribly wrong, Captain Matt Holbrook is faced with a homicide. Apparently Alfred Streger was shot and killed by small-time crook Danny Falto. The ongoing investigation gives Matt a complicated murder puzzle to solve. The break comes when one of the burglars ends up in hospital with a twisted ankle. As it turns out, Falto tried to get rid of his accomplice as well, but that didn't work out. So, if Falto did kill Streger, why didn't he kill his accomplice? With the help of Sergeant Johnny Russo (Mark Goddard) Matt learns that the baby's birth mother is teenager Ann Martin (Jena Engstrom). Ann lives her grandmother (Anne Seymour), a woman who runs a business empire left her by her late husband. Mrs. Martin was in Europe when Ann became pregnant and does not know about the child. Now that she does, she demands that Ann be given custody of the baby. The detectives had at first suspected that the girl was the extortionist, but the extortionist turns out to be a disbarred lawyer who handled the adoption. This leads to a sting resulting in the arrest of the lawyer. After the arrest Matt arranges for the Grahams and the Martins to meet with him the next day at police headquarters to resolve the matter. Mrs. Martin demands that the baby be returned to Ann but the girl, who has always given in to her grandmother, decides that the baby should be raised by the Grahams, allowing Matt to bring resolution to the crisis.
