His days run smooth like a shot of the good one, careless of time passing by. His only true passion, the only thing that keeps him alive, is writing. Writing about that apparently worthless life of his - about those neighborhood, as worn-out and miserable as his soul is - For some reason, by jotting down ink on paper he can somehow find the will to carry on... while he helps himself to one more glass. Regardless what it looks like, Henry proves to be a deep and bright thinker whose mind unfortunately begins to waiver while the thought of suicide grows stronger and stronger in his head. An unexpected encounter with a woman is going to change dramatically both their destinies.
- La Chance is a film-documentary about love. A number of men and women were interviewed and to each we asked the same questions: What is love? - What does "I love you" mean to you? - What cannot be missing in a relationship? and so on. As expected, we came up with a bunch of clashing opinions, well depicting how much our expectations can vary from each other. This gallery of feelings and desires stresses our differences, spurs us to question ourselves about love but avoiding any dogmatic approach which might shut out our opportunity to meet the Other. That's the chance - the opportunity to understand, to put aside bias and certain idealism and open up ourselves to listening instead. We were actually struck by some answers in the interviews, so much that we decided to insert some fictional parts at the end of each sequence, based on the points of view of the interviews, in order to give shape and sound to their own elaboration on the matter of love. All in all, "La Chance" is at once odd and ambitious project, as it attempts to investigate on the most hidden aspects of love from a fresh perspective.
