But despite Del's anger, it turns out that Rodder's advice would have prevented the purchase of 25 briefcases that are locked with the serial number inside. Del and Rodney have yet another row and 'Little Bruv' plans a career change. Desperate to make his mark on the world, Rodney decides to leave for Hong Kong - a great plan, if only he'd remembered his passport.
- After reading a book entitled 'Modern Men', Del elects to have a vasectomy but backs out when he finds that the doctor concerned is still angry about the faulty paint he sold him. With Cassandra pregnant Rodney is seeking a better-paid job and answers a newspaper advertisement, only to discover that it is as Del's assistant. Cassandra is rushed to hospital but she miscarries and, whilst comforting Rodney, Del bursts into tears.
- Strapped for cash as ever, Del is clearing Grandad's allotment, which has become a health hazard and where he finds some bottles of yellow liquid, which he dumps. He also finds a tap, hidden by rocks, but claims that there is an actual spring, yielding 'Peckham Spring Water'. Using a bottle of mineral water for the lab test he gets the water accepted and sold to a supermarket chain. Unfortunately he is unaware that it has been contaminated by the same yellow liquid he chucked in the reservoir and, as he turns out the light, the water starts to glow green.
- With the prospect of meaningful employment looking even more unlikely than ever, Shelley is left with no option other than to take up office temping work. He goes along on his first day with an open mind - and soon finds kindred spirits who seem to share his philosophy for a brave new world!
- The utility billls are piling up in the Shelley household but, with his ongoing unemployed status still unresolved, the money isn't actually there to pay them. Desperate measures are called for and, to his 'credit', Shelley gets himself down to the DHSS office to see if they can bail him out...

- Mrs H comes over to babysit Emma, allowing Shelley and Fran a rare night out together at the cinema. The film doesn't quite live up to their expectations, so they retire to the pub - the only problem is, their funds are in short supply, and the topic of conversation soon turns to armageddon!
- Shelley's efforts at DIY at the new house are starting to take shape - well, he's managed to put up a shelf in the kitchen at least. All this hard graft though gets interrupted when his friend Paul comes to call - as usual, in a spot of bother. When the police later come calling, it seems they are also looking to nail something (or somebody) in the line of duty...
- Shelley is dragged back to reality as he endures a painful visit to the labour exchange to sign back on. He's prepared himself well though for the rocky road that lies ahead - but will his attempts to talk his way out of an honest day's work fall on deaf ears?
