- In a San Francisco basement, physics post-graduate student Quinn Mallory has found a way to create portals to parallel universes. Inviting his physics professor Maximillian Arturo and his computer store colleague Wade Wells for a trip, a series of mishaps ropes in passing singer Rembrandt Brown and takes the Sliders off their planned route. Upon discovering a frozen world and one where Russia rules America, the quartet begins to doubt that they will be able to return to their own world anytime soon...
- Through a series of slides, Rembrandt begins to have hallucinations about former team mate, Wade. When the team begin to see random vortexes opening around them, Rembrandt becomes convinced Wade is still alive and the vortex can lead him to her.
- The Sliders jump into a world dominated by media outlets. A chance encounter between Maggie and the current US President leads to wide spread news reporting she is having an affair with the president.
- The Sliders find themselves in a world seemingly devoted to gaming. They decide to take the opportunity to indulge themselves and have a holiday. They quickly discover the games are far more complex and dangerous than any of them realized.
- The Sliders land on an Earth with a similar technology level to the one they just left. Dr Davis sets about trying to figure a way to separate the two Mallorys. She also has the unsettling experience of meeting herself in this new world. Beckett continues to struggle with the emotions of possibly losing her 'Mallory'.

Quinn meets up with an old high school flame, Daelin, who helps in the escape despite a great loss to her. In the next world, Quinn sets her up with his double in Seattle after an abusive relationship. In the third world, they slide into a jail cell where they await trial for the murder of Daelin, an undercover policewoman. In this realm, clocks and blocks of time move backwards for them alone. Quinn learns that his attempts to save worlds are causing more harm than good.
- An injured Rembrandt falls in love with his doctor, who is eager to follow him because of her secret past as a Kromagg collaborator.
- The Sliders arrive on a world where World War II never took place and fascists rule California and are making headway into the rest of the United States. Rembrandt is abducted.

Despite Arturo's best efforts Mallory is found guilty and sentenced to death live on TV.

- The Sliders interrupt the abduction of a young woman, Melinda. Quinn is recognized by one of the attackers as a Mallory, prompting the attacker to turn into a bird and fly away. The Sliders pass the woman to the authorities and discover she is the apprentice of a disgraced Druid, Gareth, who's been thrown out of the movement for practicing black magic. Quinn is enamored by the girl and launches a rescue attempt. Gareth senses Mallory's desire for Melinda and uses her as bait. Having succeeded in capturing Mallory, Gareth transfers his own essence into Quinn's body. Meanwhile, Wade casts a spell to help Rembrandt hook up with a girl he likes. The spell backfires and Rembrandt appears to fall in love with Wade. Professor Arturo, knowing of Quinn's fate, links up with Melinda and attempts to rescue Mallory. Arturo discovers he has to badly injure Quinn's body to force Gareth to leave. Once defeated, Gareth withdraws to his castle and exacts revenge on Melinda by sending a dragon to kill her.
- The Sliders arrive in the middle of an archaeological dig. They discover they are in their old home town, however everything seems to have happened hundreds of years before. Then they find a fossilized timer.
- The Sliders arrive in a world where internal combustion engines have been banned. Some on this world - The "Smokers" oppose the law and wage a war against one of the few surviving oil refineries.
- In a world where intelligence takes precedence over athletics, Quinn replaces his double who is in hiding and competes as the captain of team in a sport named "Mindgame" which implements rugby-style activity with answering high caliber questions. Quinn discovers that his double was targeted by thugs who want him to throw the game to satisfy his gambling debts.
- In a world where San Francisco serves as a prison, two new sliders join the regulars. One is a woman, Michelle, whom Quinn saved from a beating. The other is her savage boyfriend, Sid, who followed them. The Sliders are fitted with buddy bracelets which are used in a buddy system of justice. If one "buddy" commits a crime then the other is punished. Of course Quinn is responsible for Sid's predictable actions. The timer becomes a hot commodity for both prisoners and guards who want to escape an earthquake doomed city.
- The team find themselves sliding into a small area surrounded by a strange barrier. They encounter Professor Geiger who explains he's created the barrier and guided the sliders to this current world.
- The sliders race to find the cure for a deadly plague which is consuming the inhabitants of that dimension.
- Quinn and Maggie track Remmy and Wade to Home World three months after being separated, but find the world has been conquered by the Kromaggs.
- In a world where technology has been banned after the event at Hiroshima, the Sliders must find a way to fix the timer that was damaged by lightning. Quinn doesn't fully materialize and must accompany his friends in a ghost-like state in the astral plane as they run into the Bureau of Anti Technology whose real motive is to build up their technological cache.
- In a world where Bugsy Siegel succeeded in establishing a gambling empire in Northern California controlled by organized crime, Rembrandt and the others inadvertently disrupt the marriage of two families. Mistaken for the FBI Deputy Director and the Incorruptibles, Rembrandt leads a severely underfunded crime unit in a sting in order to save himself and his friends.
- After sliding into the ocean, the team find that they need to make themselves useful to a group of modern day pirates in order to survive until their next slide.
