Born into an aristocratic Catholic family, British artist Anne Rees-Mogg leaned socialist in her politics and was markedly avant-garde in her creative endeavors.In her youth she was a "land girl, " or one of those who helped the British effort during World War II by practicing agriculture in the countryside.After her schooling she became a teacher of painting and film and in the 1980s chaired the London Filmmakers Cooperative, an association of Independent movie makers.Her short experimental works, made in the 16mm format, between 1966 and her death from cancer in 1984, are reflections from a woman's point of view on the bric a brac of her surroundings, the relationships of her family and friends, and the nature of time and memory.She married the editor of the establishment paper The Times and one of the relatives who appeared in her films, nephew Jacob Rees-Mogg, later became a prominent Tory politician.- Writer
