Jodi Jackson is a publicist who has worked in the entertainment industry for the last 40 years. Having ran various large scale publicity campaigns with well-known artists, and navigated publicity for clients on tour, as well on film and television. Jodi brings years of experience, knowing all of the ins and outs of the industry. Ever since she can remember she was in one way, or another involved in the entertainment industry.
Jodi began her historic career in 1972 with the Jerry Lewis - Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and Paul Anka's - Cerebral Palsy Telethon. She caught the bug early on and the rest is history.
Jodi knows the business well, she herself being a performer in her early years. In 1973, she acted in the musicals "Gypsy," and "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." While attending College of Alameda, in 1976, she starred as a variety of characters in play production. Returning to the limelight in 1979, Jackson used her talents as production staff for the long-running highly acclaimed musical in San Francisco - "Beach Blanket Babylon."
In the very memorable 80's, she worked in production at venues like Wolfgang's, Old Waldorf, and Kabuki Theater for incredible clients including: Huey Lewis and the News, Grateful Dead, Sammy Hagar, Jefferson Starship, The Tubes, Tom Petty, Martha Davis and The Motels, Men at Work, Van Morrison, Tower of Power, Romeo Void, The Rolling Stones, Talking Heads, The Cure, Journey, The Bangles, Crosby Still Nash and Young, Chris Isaak, The Go-Go's, ABC, Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Culture Club, Depeche Mode, Air Supply, INXS, Tears for Fears, The Pretenders, Flock of Seagulls, Cyndi Lauper, Wham, Heart, Blondie, Bon Jovi, Boston, Foreigner, The Police, Aerosmith, Dire Straits, among others in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Working at The Punchline, in San Francisco with the explosion of stand up comedy, she was so fortunate to hang out with Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Gary Shandling, Bobcat Goldthwait, Howie Mandel, Richard Lewis, Steven Wright, Jerry Steinfeld, Dana Carvey, Elayne Boosler, Larry "Bubbles" Brown, Will Durst, Warren Thomas, Paula Poundstone, Steven Pearl, Dan St. Paul, Ellen DeGeneres, Tom Ammiano, Marga Gomez, Bobby Slayton, Al Clethen, and others.
Coming back to her hometown of Hollywood in the 90's, she picked up with her background acting experience, with roles in films such as Grand Canyon, Bugsy, Sister Act, and What's Love Got to Do with It. Additionally, she has held background acting roles in the show L.A. Law, as well as commercials with companies like Bud Light, Doritos, Taco Bell, Halls, and Trident.
Aside from acting, Jodi's interests also lie in design, having gotten her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the design school Academy of Art in San Francisco. Jodi held positions as a Production Designer both in the films sector at Magic Hour Productions and in the music video sector, working with artists Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Snoop Dogg on Natural Born Killers. Her experience in special events management at SIR Studios brought her to work with artists like Madonna, the Beach Boys, and Paul McCartney. Becoming the Special Events Coordinator at Billboard Live brought on additional experience working at the Grand Opening Party with Jenny McCarthy, Tony Bennet, and Gin Blossoms.
In the late 90's she began her record label work, Jodi held the position of Vice President of Publicity and Vice President of A&R at Mission Records, working with artists Glenn Frey, The Eagles, and Maxx Carl. Her superiors included Perter Lopez, Linda Whitewolf, and Irving Azoff. She worked with the Tiger Woods Foundation, as well, as Robbie Robertson on indigenous struggles. Through that work she helped secure the Best Regional Roots Music Album category for The Grammys, which includes Native American music. Additionally, she worked at Red Ant Entertainment with record executive Randy Phillips, and artists: Salt n Pepa, Militia, Cheap Trick, and numerous others. From there, she was quickly hand-picked by The Courtney Barnes Group, where she worked on the campaigns with Smokey Robinson, Aaliyah, Snoop Dogg, TLC, Queen Latifah, Bad Boy Records, and others. Jodi also worked with Red One with Lady Gaga's Grammy Nomination.
In 2012, Jodi became the founder and CEO of JJ Entertainment, an entertainment publicity firm based in Los Angeles that covers all aspects of media including film & television, magazines & newspapers, radio, internet, and numerous music genres.
